Can someone explain whether the artwork in "Streamer" is AI?
So I was trying the new levels, which are a blast and really difficult, and I noticed some of the drawings in the streamer's room, along with the thumbnails on the YT videos.
One of the artworks of a Japanese anime girl appears to have multiple eyebrows, the other artworks had very strange looking hands along with her hair merging into her skin.
The YT thumbnails on the widescreen looked very contrast heavy with a style that I have seen before in AI generated content.
They looked AI generated, but is this true?

I haven't seen that many talking about this, so I find it strange.

VOID put so much effort into this game with an absurd attention to detail in their environments and suspects. Ready or Not is a game that doesn't have as much of an overt story like SWAT 3 and 4, so the game heavily relies on environmental storytelling like in Thief, so to see them using these potentially unethically sourced AI generated artwork for a level strikes me of a bit of a developer cop out for time related reasons, and such AI generated material can negatively impact the feeling of Ready or Not, if they decide to use more AI generated artworks in the future.
Whilst the artwork does suit the environmental storytelling of the level in a crypto farming weeb furry streamer, if the artpieces have been unethically sourced from an artist who isn't receiving credit for their template, that isn't exactly fair or good developer practice, and sets a bad precedent.

I'm generally not big into the debate on whether AI art is ethical or not, I'd rather just know whether the artwork in the level is indeed AI generated.
I'm worried because as it stands Valve have previously banned games that use AI generated content, and if Ready or Not gets removed from steam over this, I'd be heartbroken.

I would very much appreciate if a developer from VOID would elaborate on this as I am quite confused

Half life original engine was from the engine of quake. They didn't stole it, quake/doom dev give it to them. But ... you don't know if a dev didn't copy/paste some script in UE from another dev without his consent.

Using Unreal Engine to make a game is also the lazy path, you know. You could code everything like in the old days.
I dunno, most successful games have used or modified existing engines. Counter Strike, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto. Go no issue with Developers using preexisting tools if they can make incredible things with them
Yes, now fix the inconsistency in your world view and also include AI as a tool into that framework. AI is already used plenty in game dev and other areas like movies.

missed the public statement by VOID where they bragged about not having used AI in their game.
Well that's what I'm hoping, whether the developers can clarify if they did use AI content and their justifications for it, instead of having their community defending them over it with no questions asked.
I'd very much like to know their creative process.

You don't need every tool for every job, and films with AI content in them look awful and are usually rightfully mocked for taking opportunities away from actors.
Not all change is good

It's as unnecessary as telling you what internet provider or 3D modeling software they used during the development process.

Subjective and something that will change as AI is advancing at breakneck speed.

I don't see you clamoring for the comeback of telephone operators (or the thousands of other professions that were consumed by technology) even though they took away a lot of opportunities from workers in that area.

I believe than you love ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ from Guns N' roses or 'Dazed and confused' from Led Zeppelin.

If they can have developer interviews that explain their updates and design ideas, then they can answer a simple question about why they used AI artwork in a single level in a game where they otherwise handmade everything else, because why not just go back and redo everything with AI art tools if they're willing to use it here. Why bother at all?

don't like guns and roses, much prefer Judas Priest and Saxon

Music is maybe the best place to find Art stolen by a band from another Artist. And to make money out of it. (Judas Priest, "Revolution" )

Because it still makes sense to use artists for important assets as they're more reliable for now.

On the other hand, using AI for less important background art makes perfect sense.

And why would they redo anything with AI? They already paid for someone to make it beforehand.

What we are trying to told you is : If you want to see the devs of RoN stating something, start to go on witch hunt to all other devs studio who use generated AI content to build their game.

Well colour me crazy, but I think big posters front and center on the walls of the suspects room are very important assets and aren't background art like a skybox or building in the distance. They knew to do them by hand in the Valley of the Dolls level, so it would have made sense here.

You barely see them .... MiMi didn't even saw the eyebrows ! Most of us pass quickly in this room without paying attention since there is nothing to shoot at anymore. Your nose is on the ground harvesting guns and evidences.

The storefront of the gas station is important assets !
