Sounds like you are using DX11

It's extremely bad at utilising your hardware in this game

With DX12 you'll get more proper utilisation, but you'll get shader compilation stutter instead until you have experiences all of the content and will happen again when you update your GPU drivers because the game lacks a shader pre-compilation step.

I experience low GPU utilization aswell, running DX12. 3080, CPU 5900x, 32gb ram 3600mz, installed on SSD.
My utilization won't go over 60%, tried changing every setting. No idea what is happening

put a "-high" to the game start parameters, which will make it utilize your GPU properly (went from 30ish to 90+ ish). Always start the game inside of steam directly and pick dx12, dont start it using a shortcut or it will ignore the start parameter. solved all my issues. Went from fluctuating between 40 and 200 fps to stable 200+ (4090)

Changed nothing for me. Start lobby 115 fps, then 110, 105, 100... down to about 50, then shoots up to 115 fps, 110, 105, 100,... and again and again and again. I don't know what's happening within this game.

I saw some posts about turning off V-Sync and setting a frame limit, mine is at 120 (4070ti). Seems to utilize the GPU more but it is still not 99% utilization like most other games.

Turning off Vsync will only help if you have a monitor with low refresh rate.
Set a cap if you do turn it off, yes. Otherwise it could go 1000+fps in the menu and really max out your card for no reason.

30% CPU util means nothing (as in the way CPU utilization is reported, a single number usually doesn't say much)

Looking at the utilization on my I9-9900K, at least in D3D11 the game is heavily single-threaded (one thread running at 80% with one other around 40% and the rest low 10s - this is reported as CPU util 16% to explain my previous point). My RTX3090 is bottlenecked by that single-thread performance at 40% util in the heaviest scenes.

I need to check how to switch to D3D12 and see if that helps, even though dealing with the reported shader comp stutter is also annoying.

I tried the same mission in DX12 and the performance was much better. It is still heavily bottlenecked by single-thread performance but at least it was playable (previously it would drop to 20fps in certain parts while in others it would easily be 100+, with dx12 i did not notice any performance dips that low).

As reported by Mezziaz earlier, this introduces shader compilation stutter which can be quite annoying but I guess better than nothing right now.

Are you saying the game by default is dx11 and how do you switch to dx 12 presuming it’s not an in game option.

Wondering actually if as I’m using gog it’s not showing the launch menu..

Starting the game from desktop icon, it always runs in dx11 for me. But starting it from steam, it either offers the option to choose or you can set it to run it always (when started directly from steam) in dx12 in properties. I am not sure if there are similar options in the gog.

But as Rox said, there are still stuttering issues. At least on my machine, the performance is better (still not perfect) than dx11 version, but there is a lot of shader comp stutter.

one of the worst running games i've played in a while. Its fine and then it just tanks mid mission. Badly needs fixing.
