Are they going to add workshop?!
The game is good... but not for long. There is literally nothing on the base game and if you want to add mods, you have along way to go. First you probably try the mods that are downlaodable in game. Because you never heard mods.io before so you probably will go with the steam option. After that you will see so many mods, you dowload them, you restart the game and you realized mods are not working at all. There is more, some of the mods are making your game crash every time. So you delete every mods/save (bye to your lovely loadouts).

You may wanna try so many times to find some half working mods or you will look at mod.io. In that point, you will see so many great mods but you know what? You have to download the mod and all of it's reqiuerments MANUALLY.

You had a simple wish. You couldn't get it... at least not with spending your precious time on not even playing a game that is EARLY ACCESS for a LONG TIME, just downloading mods to make the game better while devs adding new weapons. Who did even asked for new weapons?!

Just bring a worskhop system like Garry's mod, Left 4 Dead or like a game has a simple modding system. Just let community to make your jobs better. The community always make devs job easier you just have to let them to do that. ArmA knows that, and they are started to make their games more like an engine for modders. You may have a small team but this will help to make your game more alive then ever.

As it stands, it appears there are 0 plans to switch to Steam Workshop from Modio. They'll just fix the in-game system, tweak it and hopefully add stuff like the filters the website supports along with collections (though its not confirmed), and it'll be fine.

It's not hard at all to install mods. 99% of them are downloading it and moving the pak into your folders. Simple as. Also, most mods made prior to the Adam update in December 2022 aren't going to work,so you just have to be aware of the timestamp.

Mod.io sucked ass when they added it back then, I didn't bother to use it ever since.

I don't know why they would choose Mod.io over the workshop. Clearly, they were offered money to partner with them. There isn't a single advantage to using Mod.io over the workshop.

I think you are mixing the distribution method and the software to make mods, those are two things apart.

An official development kit tool it is supposed to be released down the road, it will make modding much simpler, easier for the user and modder.

About distribution method it needs to go beyond only Steam Workshop or mod.io

This game requires a server browser to show up the sessions with different parameters and what kind of mods version are being used in the session.

Therefore anyone can seamlessly download them, etc, which is attached to the distribution method (either SteamWorkshop or Mod.io works).

workshop has always been finicky. i'd rather have a dedicated mod manager or drag and drop files than use the convenience of the workshop. it works flawlessly with some games but most of the time it doesn't and then you end up having to reinstall the entire game.

Yes you are right. But still it doesn't change the subject. I did download mods for games like GTA, had lot of problems, downloaded Lots of GB's then mods conflict, deleted the game, redownloaded lots of GB. But the diffrence is GTA didn't add a mods page on the main menu and GTA and the similar games like skyrim etc, has a lot bigger worlds and mechanics than the ready or not. Those games didn't add a mod page and didn't tell their games is suitable for modding. Ready or nor did that but they didn't do anything else.

So my point is if they going to keep that mods page in the game after release, they have to improve that. Okey maybe not with workshop. I requested workshop because in my experince, it was always more comfortable. If they use another "good" method to download mods, i don't mind that. I hope after the release, this and all the other problems will gone. And i hope i will kill nazis with my bro squad of anime girls using laser guns (Im jokin just improve modding).
