Female Characters?
as a woman myself, I enjoy and prefer playing female characters in games.

are there any plans if/when female swat officers will be added to the game?

Maybe in a mod or update post 1.0. The team is small and they have to do a lot, so since the female demographic is less likely to play this game they are unlikely to add it in right away. Still, hopefully you get what you want at some point.

I'm not a sexist POS or anything, but - men, typically, tend to be stronger and larger than women which means they have a larger variety of suspects and situations they can physically contend with. Females, no offence, are usually smaller than some males and usually do not have the muscle mass vs technique to over power some suspects. In a tactical situation, where, -you- as a female officer, get tangled up in a physical confrontation as the rest of the stack /and or/ unit has to temporally ignore you to provide situational security, you need to be able to hold your own until additional help is available. While training and determination are major contributors, they are not always the winning factors. As far as entry teams, men are more of a jack of all trades but masters of none. As a tactical commander, I would rather keep my female officers at their advantage - communication and leadership. Fight me.

afaik there are plans to add female officers as part of the character selection roster but it'll either be for 1.0 or in a post launch update.

Sound perfectly factual and as an ex-infantry soldier, i would say it's 99% right considering that no female passed the old infantry standards (pre-2010) until they relaxed them and still only 2 have managed after the relaxation point. Stop making everything about your sensibilities and maybe do some research.

On another note, women made up about 0.50% of SWAT so their inclusion in this game is absolutely fine. If they can pass the standards, they can do the job. It is that simple.
