what is the best assault rifle or smg in the game

When it comes to the rifles, their stats are mostly the same. This isn't the kind of game where you're gonna be sweating over the meta gun of the season. The most damage is the SA58, but it is the largest which factors into gameplay, and of course can overpenetrate easily.

As for SMGs, there's a bit more difference. I think my favorite is either the 10mm or the P90.

For the rifles, probably the SCAR and for the SMGs, probably the MP10 or the MP7. Anything 9mm in this game is borderline unusable and since I like iron sights, the AR15s are also unusable because they offer no peripheral vision.

I usually use UMP with silencer and USP with silencer as well. Both pack a punch and are very enjoyable to use.

[Praevus]

The SA-58 (7.62mm) is the AR to use if you want to one-shot most enemies. Be careful though, a not-so-well placed shot can kill most of them instantly.

The UMP45 is the best smg imo. The P90 is also nice (but does not have the armor penetration like in real life), especially if you prefer large magazines.

The P90 with JHP rounds still penetrates suspect soft armor and with AP rounds it penetrates the ceramic equivalent. Same with the MP7.
