1911 problems
Hello everyone!
After talking about shields, here is another point that got my interest.
The venerable 1911 Pistol!
Maybe the most iconic SWAT pistol ever fielded (at least if you are as old as me).
Especially in tactical shooters I like to try and use pistols as much as I can and after trying out all pistols in "Ready Or Not" only one pistol seems to be lacking... and sadly it is the 1911.
Is it just me or does the .45 not pack the punch it should? Compared with the modern wonder nine pistols I rarely get one or two shot kills with the 1911.
The short barrelled Glock 19 in 9mm regularly outperforms the 1911 in stopping threats (armoured or not). I tried AP and JHP and it does not seem to make a difference for the 1911.
Capacity is the next big problem. Just 7 rounds is just not enough. It would be nice to have a 9+1 or 10+1 magazine as standard.
Does anyone else have similar experiences or is it just me?

I mean your experience is just disliking how much ammo the gun is and damage . Theres a reason its not used anymore as modern pistols are simply better in every way

LAPD SWAT still uses the 1911

I've had the opposite experience, with 9mm JHP struggling to kill unarmored suspects and 45 acp in general dropping them quickly. Maybe shot placement on the body matters? I don't know if the game models that though beyond headshots.

Then again, I use the usp45 for the extra four rounds but I don't see how that would cause a difference in damage since they both are the same caliber.

Standard 1911 Colt mag size is 8 rounds in the mag.

True, when you carry one in the chamber and is illegal in most countries.

Yeah the 1911 is most surely outdated, you are absolutely right there! And I would not have it being the best gun in the line-up. It is more of a challenge to role play LAPD SWAT from the 80s and 90s with MP5s and 1911s.
Apart from that a .45 bullet is just as deadly from the barrel of an "old" 1911 than a state of the art H&K pistol.
It just feels weird and wonky to me in some situations.
Capacity is not comparable to modern pistols, you are right on that point again. Seven shots is really not much and you do not even start with 7+1. As an easy upgrade 8, 9 and 10 round magazines have been around for a long time and would make the 1911 in this game a bit more competitive.

Ok thats really interesting! Can you remember if it was a specific 9mm gun struggling with stopping power or was it more or less all of them?
Shot placement most certainly matters, you are bang on the money here. If you hit head, throat or neck the .45 drops dudes AP or JHP. My observation comes more from heated firefights in raid modes where I go middle of the silhouette and start blasting.
Since I am not sure if damage in the game is modelled per single weapon or per ammo category, I cannot say if two .45 guns could, in theory, have vastly different damage outputs.

Thanks for the feedback! I am gonna try out some more and see if I am just imagining things.
Cheers people!

Oddly enough, the pistols work better than the SMGs for me. Ever since the update that added different types of armor plates 9mil has dropped in effectiveness whenever I use it. The pistols do fine, but when I keep them center on target they always need more shots than the other calibers. But the SMGs... I have fired (in single shot) entire thirds of hollowpoint 9mil magazines into unarmored suspects with all my shots landing where vitals are and they will refuse to drop. The MP5 has less effectiveness for me than a glock despite the longer barrel. Didn't have this problem before the armor update, the other guns didn't change all that much besides when armor is involved, but it's like all the 9mil SMGs have been replaced with 22lr or something. I don't get it.

Wow ok that is interesting! The game is in early access and it seems in some details it shows. I am right now going through the assault rifles and testing attachments. After that I will go and have a look at the 9mm sub-guns and I am really interested if my feeling will be the same as yours. Thanks for sharing!
It is to be expected that new systems will screw some other values and there may be quite some work to do at balancing the weapons. Interesting times!
