Each 'cartridge' has identification discs (called AFIDS) which will show a serial number of the cartridge was used (not necessarily which taser as such).
When tasers are signed out you also sign out the cartridges too, so you can see who used which taser. The cartridges are interchangeable (between the same model of taser).
For evidential reasons an officer will bag up the spent cartridge, the wires (this can show haw far the taser barbs fired) and a few of the AFIDS (to show which cartridge they came from.

tasers and shotgun shells have that material or "wadding" irl.
