IR laser illuminator/Ability to mount flashlight and laser unit.
This mechanic should be implemented as it is a handicap that makes no sense. Considering on a duty rifle a WML is a must and under NVG's The illuminator and laser work together.

Absolutely. We shouldn't have to choose between white light, a visible, and an IR laser. Especially since any patrol rifle used by a team with night vision capability is going to have white light with a IR illuminator, IR laser, and visible laser. And probably a X300V or X400V on their handgun.
I don't really like having to swap it out for missions either.
Even for gameplay reasons they could just only let you turn on one attachment at a time or prevent the IR laser from being used the same time as a flashlight.
I think the easiest switchology is to have flashlights and lasers set to separate hotkeys. So you can toggle them on and off however you want in any combination. Since there is value to using a visible laser at the same time as a white light. Particularly if you're a masochist and want to suffer through the absolutely atrocious shield mechanics.

When it comes to switching from IR to visible lasers and vice versa, maybe do a long press on the laser button or a double tap to swap.

If we ever get IR illuminators you could have a similar control system for switching from white light to the IR illuminator. Although that approach does introduce a very real possibility of white light NDs. So some sort of feedback mechanism like a HUD icon may be necessary so the player knows what mode they're on. Obviously a separate hotkey for just the illuminator would prevent the ND issue but we all have a finite amount of keys on our keyboard.

I would have to double check, but I think the Scout lights represented in game are explicitly Vampire series so they are IR and white light.

Irl a peq 15 would be used under nods with the IR laser as well as it's IR illuminator in conjunction with each other. It's really sad to see that this isn't the case in game. Makes me basically just say forget the night vision.

By and large if you're using an enabler with an IR laser and illuminator it's likely that you're using both at the same time. You'll turn the illuminator on and dial it to whatever setting is best for illuminating your environment and have the laser (pointer is the technical term) on for aiming. There are times when you might want the laser only, as an example target marking or lassoing. Depending on what IR laser/illuminator you're using the illuminator performance may be terrible. So you put it on IR pointer only mode and use a separate better quality IR illuminator attach to same switch as your laser. If you ever see a rifle set up that looks like it has two lights on it and a IR laser/luminator, it's highly likely that one of the lights is a dedicated white light the other is a dedicated IR illuminator and the laser/illuminator is being used for the IR or visible pointer only.

Instead of replicating something like the modes on a MAWL or other contemporary enablers from a gameplay perspective it's just easier to either turn on the illuminator and laser at the same time with one key press or toggle them separately with separate key presses.

But ultimately I think we can all agree that visible lasers, white lights, IR pointers, and IR illuminators should not be mutually exclusive. Any competently set up patrol rifle for a team that has NOD capability it's going to have a setup that is capable of all four things.
