Why is lockpicking so easy instead of being a real mini-game ?
We are in an anti-terrorism simulation which brings realism to real heights.
What Iunfortunately find ridiculous, is actually how lockpicking is so incredibly easy (an one-handed on top of it !).

Why isn't it as complicated as in any other game like Fallout, Scum or other references where picking the lock pops a special interface and gives the possiblity to break the pin if lockpicking goes wrong ?

A failed lockpick attempt could alarm enemies with the sound of the lockpicking/bobby pin breaking and they could shoot at the door for instance.

This feature could be much more interesting and realistic I think. It brings real tension.

it would be interesting if it was like in other games with an actual mini-game while everyone waits for to open it; not too mention the fact that enemy might come up on you while you fiddle with it.

Certainly would increase the tension, but now you might have to draw straws to see who goes lol

can you hear a bobby pin break in another room?
lock picking isnt difficult in real life

hate to break it to you - the lock on your door is only going to stop an honest person

Lockpicking Lawyer: 3 is binding, click out of 4...
They had a real SWAT guy look at RON and he said that none of the people on his team knew how to lockpick, they have other ways of opening doors.

OP mentioned a mini game for lock picking, I'm not sure how to approach that but agree there should be more manual player input for unlocking things. The lock pick gun for example is unrealistically quiet and doesn't show the player inserting other lock picking tools into the lock which is required. Other than that it shouldn't be time consuming as it isn't in real life but a good game mechanic to improve on.

That is true, you only have to go on YT to see people do it with ease, the double spanner technique on locked padlocks is a classic and done in under 30 seconds. Door swing bars and hotel door latches taking a few minutes to unlock if that.

Using a door ram, c4, kicking doors in are the usual methods, yes of course but....sometimes you gotta lockpick harder doors. That's exactly the moment where it becomes interesting.

Probably automated lockpicks like in the FBI. I mean I saw that in X-Files the game. I think.

I have never seen any department including the one I worked for ever even consider lock-picking, there is no time for it nor is there any reason.

why was this never an issue in swats 3+4...?

Two well loved, well respected and lauded games, with EXACTLY the same mech for lockpicking.....

Again, another case of "I WANT THIS"

It'd just get tedious, like Elder Scrolls' lockpicking

Maybe you could make it optional if you want it harder

Wouldn’t a mini game force players to systematically use the ram, the C2 or the breach shotgun?
