So how do mods work in multiplayer?
I usually host the game for my self and some friends. If i installed some mods would my friends need to install the same mods?

Or if its a skin does it just load for me only and i can see the skin and my friends would see the default skin etc.

A quick summary:

Everyone must go to game settings, scroll down to "serverside checksum" and disable it, it essentially forces you to have identical mods which can be a pain.

Outside of map mods, it doesn't matter what mods everyone has except for the host. If the host has an AI mod, it will impact the lobby, but only the host. Cosmetic mods are purely client side, and stuff like everything unlock everything make it that (since it uses in-game assets) others can see it, but not select it without the mod.

The exception being map mods, and stuff that makes it that you have "permanent" gear like NV goggles. Everyone has to have map mods, load them first in singleplayer, then its fine in MP

I'd like to add that some gameplay mods, like my movement and weapons mods should be the same for both server and clients. Especially movement, as it is tracked by both simultaneously. If there's a discrepancy, ppl will 'rubber band' ingame.

Thank you, that's helpful to know.
