Steam>Setting>Controller.
I use XB1 controller. I only found out about this because I had to enable it for another gamie using a arcade stick. I kept it on and forgot about and turns out the controller worked if configured right.
I think enable both generic and xbox controller. I can't remember. 100% I'm on my laptop until my desktop gpu is fixed. When you open General Controller Setting, big screen view should pop up that's where you select and configure.
Mess around with it. I don't actually use controller for this game because lack of keys but I am sure it does work because when I played on my desktop, I was able to move/aim/fire/lean with my controller.
There is no in game controller support. You're basically wanting to emulate the keyboard controls via controller.
If you're in a mission or at the firing range and you still can't aim or shoot, I'm not sure what the issue is. You're basically faking the PC into thinking that controller buttons are the same as keyboard buttons and mouse movements. The profile is just there to easily apply the right keys to the right buttons. You can also try to set one up manually using Steam, but stuff like this is complicated and breaks easily.
I do normally play FPS games with a controller, but this one feels pretty good on a KB/M setup. I have heard that the devs are planning on adding official support at some time, no one knows how long that might take though. Most people are asking for AI improvements at the moment.
The game has a setting for "toggle crouch" and "crouch" which requires it to be held, and it's just using the hold option by default.
You would look at the in-game settings for controls to find whatever keyboard key is being used for "crouch" and clear it from there, and add it to the setting for "toggle crouch." It's the left control key by default, but it might have been changed by the controller profile, so double check.
That should make the button toggle instead, without having to mess with any controller profile mappings, just in-game stuff. If not, you have to mess with the controller profile.
