Nah, not anymore. In the beginning maybe but it has stopped asking me what version to launch the game in.
It should always ask what game version to launch to, but I believe there are ways to manually force the game to always use one version through editing, or software specific, dunno.
DX 12 runs a LOT better in terms of average fps for me.
I got issues with DX12 in Star wars battlefront 2 as well.
I got an RTX 3080 card so I just find it weird that I have DX12 issues.
DX versions summarized (at least for Ready or Not)
DX11 = for older devices, but is generally more stable
DX 12 = for newer, but is buggier, and unlocks a few extra graphic options. Not major.
Go to the game's page in Steam library - hit the gear wheel - > properties -> general ->lauch options and put there "-dx12"
(with out the quote marks)
I believe users have tried that and it hasn't worked, but I could be wrong
even in worst case scenario you always can select DX12 everytime you launch it :D
i think i'm onto something really big in here man you need to listen up....
Like many other people have reported, i also had very bad performance on DX12, stutterings, fps drops etc you name it...
So what i've done is to delete the game config folder to reset the settings.
(delete Ready or not folder completely)
it's located in - C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ReadyOrNot
(make sure you can see hidden folders in windows settings)
Now you need to delete that folder and relaunch the game in DX12 mode and set your settings as they were before.
i've done that and suddenly it's not stuttering anymore and i've got HUUUUGE FPS boost.
i've tested on several maps including club, twisted nerve, gas station etc... and all runs pretty much silky smooth.
need to keep checking this out if it's gonna work for more people i'm going to make a thread about it.
i think the reason for this to happen in the first place is that some users has the game installed for a long time and some old pre-cached shaders and world gen files and configuration left from older builds of the game which casue it to run poorly and stutter on DX12 for some players.
I play in dx11 with stable'ish 144 fps, dx12 doesn't look any different but frequently drops down to 50~70s. On 3070. Just play with default dx11.
