I do find the AI a bit clunky to use, but I also found the SWAT 4 AI clunky to use, so it's personal opinion on that. I used to play a lot of SP exclusively prior to this update, but now I find myself playing MP a lot more just so I don't have to micro manage every teammate/fireteam
I personally have them follow me and just walk around, if it's a dangerous room then I'll have them stack up and clear, but mostly follow me around and have them do all the securing, evidence, etc.
Mobile Response:
They for sure can, but they have.. worse aimbot sometimes than the suspects do. They do not hesitate or mess around, ruins it sometimes
They make it too easy to clear everything if you do it text book and send them in. I mean they are supposed to be highly trained but I've never seen one die yet!
Bring supressed 5-7, NVGs and CS.
Clear the place Sam Fisher style.
The best solution I can think of to please everyone is for the devs to implement an option for hosts to adjust the Swat AI (and possibly suspect AI) skill level. That shouldn't be too difficult to add I reckon. That way, everyone can tune the bots to their play style and everyone becomes happy.
