Seeking how to remove [mod] the disturbing imagery in the Birthday Party level
Let me start by saying that I'm not alleging criminal conduct by the devs. I also want to add that I appreciate the devs bringing to light to a growing epidemic in our society, that of child pornography. Especially considering that we have a growing number of judges in the US that want to decriminalize child pornography, it is especially important that we increase awareness of these crimes.

That said, I am 100% uncomfortable with the images in the basement of the Voll Health House level (birthday party level). *I'm not claiming that VOID has made anything illegal, however its just too close the the real thing for me*. And for everyone's reference, images do not have to be photographs to be illegal; sexually suggestive cartoons and 3D rendered images of children are also illegal. I do not want these images on my computer, let alone see them. If you haven't played this level yet, all you need to know it that you're busting a child pornography ring, and you find photographic evidence . . . a lot of it.

*I understand that the devs made this content to create a raw and disturbing experience. I'd consider their efforts a success, but I really don't want to see this disturbing content every time I play through this level. I'd appreciate it if there was an option to turn off graphic images.* Additionally, if anyone hears of a mod that removes this borderline illegal content, please share it with the community.

30 June 2022 update

For all of those claiming that cartoons or fictional images are not illegal under US law, you are incorrect. I refer you to PROTECT Act of 2003, which clearly states:

"Section 1466A of Title 18, United States Code, makes it illegal for any person to knowingly produce, distribute, receive, or possess with intent to transfer or distribute visual representations, such as drawings, cartoons, or paintings that appear to depict minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and are deemed obscene."

1 July 2022 update

For those skilled in the arts of jumping to conclusions and creating Straw Man arguments: I've never called for censorship, and I have not claimed that the devs have done anything illegal. I've only claimed that the content is uncomfortably close to child pornography and that some of us PERSONALLY don't want to look at it, which I why I asked if anyone knew who to remove the images from the level. I'm not trying to force my opinions on anyone.

For posters who are claiming that those of us who are disturbed by this content are lacking maturity or grit, remember that we all have our weaknesses. A relevant example: many of my closest friends are combat vets or police officers who don't even blink when seeing a man eviscerated, but are intensely disturbed or enraged by sexually abuse against children. Lookup SFC Charles Bartland as just one example.

I'm also done entertaining abuse from strangers. I'm happy to debate, but if you can't express your opinion civilly, then prepare to be removed from this thread.

2 July 2022 update

I edited the subject line, again, to help people understand that I'm looking to mod the game client-side, not lobby for VOID to censor the game.

I also edited the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs, between the **, in order to clarify that I'm not looking for censorship.

Yeah, Zero Hour offered an option to cover extreme gore elements in the level(s?) - this seem like it would be a good solution here too. A few "tiers" of pixeling that kind of content would be welcome too - gore introduced with suicide vests also makes me a bit uneasy.

I agree, its a bit in your face. I'd rather just find clues to know the story but not just have my screen covered with this stuff. Even if it isnt as realistic or whatever.

Just have it be a laptop you have to secure, I don't want to see images or graphics around it please and thankyou

Really no need for it.

i agree to an extent (i havent seen them yet myself) that it doesnt have to be so specifically realistic, but at the same time - grow some thicker skin. it's an adult game. if you cant handle mature elements, then dont play the mission/game if it offends you. everyone gets offended over everything so easily nowadays that its hard to know what actually is serious and what isnt.

if the photos are legitimately very close to the real deal - it's a realistic game made for adults interested in seeing some of what these guys actually go through on their missions. it's not going to be pretty.

Edit: you are clearly overreacting. All you see is kids in bathing suits and standing there without a shirt on for a boy or something. That's perfectly fine. I have pictures of me when I was a boy without a shirt on, should I surrender those to the police? Or worse... I have pictures of me when I was a baby with only a diaper on!

give the game a rating option in menu for those who want to tone down the game, but for me the more real and gory the better.

Actually uh thats false at least in the us, this has been brought up to court multiple times and even if it was its really hard to prove because the artist is the one who draws it and dictates what the character is, age, mentality other ♥♥♥♥
plus uh its not real i mean. its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disgusting but not illegal.
However uh yeah it might want some censorship tick setting

Having an option to censor Gore/Shocking/Blasphematory/Violent/Etc material in the game could be an option for sensible souls. (which to me doesn't makes sense, just don't play such violent games if you're easily shocked)

However, in no way the game must fully censor itself by removing all this content !

The game is about what real SWAT (and similar units) operators go through their missions and it's made to be realistic. This game is not Call of Duty or Rainbow Siege, it's not at all a fun game intended for children or teens, it's intended for a mature adult public.

There are plenty of games around which depicts extremely violent and borderline (if not border-crossed) themes. Yet, they exist, and they sell. Oh and don't worry, real footage or illustrated matter of sexual child abused would not make in into the game. From all I have seen in Voll level, nothing has crossed the legal line, it's suggested but not explicitely shown material.

This, I actually played it for the first time after the update dropped and I was like "ok, an 18th birthday party, cool.. I wonder why there is security here shooting at police"..

And then I found one of 2 staircases leading into the basement and it got really dark really quickly.

Everything in Ron should be left as it is, it's meant to be dark and gritty and that's precisely why many people are getting the game, not just because it's a successor to the SWAT series, But because the devs are not afraid to show the reality of incidents that actually do happen.

Dark is good, it's thought provoking, I think part of the idea with this mission is to evoke emotion, and it clearly is working because so many of the posters on here dislike it, its not displaying in detail the really big no no stuff, but it is depicting what has happened and that basement section finally gives you a shock and imo it's exactly what we signed up for when we all got RoN due to the gritty nature of the game.

It needs to stay IMHO.

Tbh the pictures aren't as bad as portrayed? It's a girl and a boy doing what I would assume gymnastic stances? Obviously the theme is to set a more cruel motive then just that. But on itself these pictures aren't anything remotely close to any xxx rated stuff! It's therefore not really the pictures itself considered gross but more the atmosphere they create. Which is good, you should feel grossed out by it! :)

Game takes a mildly realistic approach to heinous real life crimes. Internet people complain it makes them uncomfortable and expect changes, instead of returning and playing Division or a racing game that is more appropriate to them.
