This is a game. Realism is applied on those aspects that are alluring for an action-packed GAME. Weapon handling, movement speed, recoil, compliance mechanics, stealth, night vision tactics, damage model, etc etc etc, are all implemented in a more or less realistic fashion. The topmost objective: to have a videogame that provides a valuable CQB training tool.
It doesn't make any sense to be IRL realistic.
It would be, over everything, just very boring.
It's relevant because i agree with your point. lol
If you are using 5-6 mags... it's not the game that's the problem it's you.
Single-fire is your best friend for saving ammo
I use the semi auto pepperball gun and even then the ammo is still not enough for the amount of enemies there are
Shoot some rounds with pepper gun then spray the suspect if hes not complying
I really like the idea behind the slot system but it can do with some refinements and adjustments. The number of slots you can freely allocate to each category is a flexible approach that allows for a wide range of options but it's not without its oddities. I propose a hybrid system where the different armor options have a built-in number of slots for each category of items in addition to the universal slot allocation system that we currently have. So for example if you were to select the medium armor option you would always be able to carry three magazines for your rifle (plus one in the rifle) without it depleting your number of slots, but if you wanted to carry 6 rifle mags you would use up three of your universal slots.
Typically in-game I have 2 pistol mags (1 on the carrier 1 on the gun) and 4 rifle mags (3 on the PC etc) but it's unusual if I use more than 1 and a half mags total.
In the real world you would have significantly more pistol mags. Remember in addition to the PC you also have your duty/battle belt. So it's very probable that you have anywhere from 1-5 (2-3 being what I see the most) pistol mags on your belt. And some users may choose to supplement with 1 or 2 pistol mags on their placard. Depending on your needs and how frequently you bring out the long gun you'll also probably have at least 1 rifle mag on the belt.
