Increasing the minimal loadout of magazines
Personally I think the loadout for magazines is rather incredibly limited, especially with the fact if you use heavy body armor as I try to get roughly 4 flashbangs and maybe 4-5 mags but that only leads me to having literally one pistol mag, personally I think its rather strange to only carry a single magazine and think there should be a minimum increase in the amount of ammo you can carry instead of just a single mag. It almost feels like a downgrade when in the past you were capable of having a minimum of 4-5 magazines despite the body armor and equipment you carry.

I mean for being advertised as realistic, the game sure does put you in situations that rarely happen in real life SWAT operations such as expending all your ammo you have on you.

This game follows on a successful trend set by the classic SWAT titles (3 and 4, more to the latter), in which the team is small and the work is huge. The realism doesn't apply to team size. It doesn't apply to the negotiations phase. In many situations you go in without the enemy knowing you are going, which almost never happens in barricaded situations IRL. The realism doesn't apply to the aftermath paperwork. In mission, it doesn't apply to that real life officer whose sole mission is to advance up to a point and cover from there until the end of time.
This is a game. Realism is applied on those aspects that are alluring for an action-packed GAME. Weapon handling, movement speed, recoil, compliance mechanics, stealth, night vision tactics, damage model, etc etc etc, are all implemented in a more or less realistic fashion. The topmost objective: to have a videogame that provides a valuable CQB training tool.
It doesn't make any sense to be IRL realistic.
It would be, over everything, just very boring.

How is this relevant to the fact you get soo little ammo in general especially in places like Cherryessa where 5-6 mags just outright aren't enough

If you are using 5-6 mags... it's not the game that's the problem it's you.
Maybe DON'T USE Full-auto

Single-fire is your best friend for saving ammo

I use the semi auto pepperball gun and even then the ammo is still not enough for the amount of enemies there are
Oh, pepper gun?, yeah now i understand, 4 mags of pepper gun is basically 100 shots (wich isn't alot actually), what i do to save ammo on the pepper gun is to bring pepper-spray

Shoot some rounds with pepper gun then spray the suspect if hes not complying

Also not only that, but I try to get a balanced amount of ammo with the heavy vest, only to get 4-5 mags for the primary, 4 grenades and a whopping single magazine for the pistol, at this point the equipment feels soo much worse in terms of what you can carry compared to several patches ago.

i want to carry 12+ magazines.. that way i can mag dump everyone.
I mean you theoretically could carry just barely around 10 but that means you are wearing minimal body armor, virtually no pistol mags and practically no grenades.
I seriously hope they increase the slot limits, it's annoying having to sacrifice a rifle mag for a extra flashbang, missions that tend to be on the long side result in me asking a friend for a spare magazine.
I don't think I've ever gone black on ammo. But if you use mods to increase NPC count having a few extra mags becomes more important.

I really like the idea behind the slot system but it can do with some refinements and adjustments. The number of slots you can freely allocate to each category is a flexible approach that allows for a wide range of options but it's not without its oddities. I propose a hybrid system where the different armor options have a built-in number of slots for each category of items in addition to the universal slot allocation system that we currently have. So for example if you were to select the medium armor option you would always be able to carry three magazines for your rifle (plus one in the rifle) without it depleting your number of slots, but if you wanted to carry 6 rifle mags you would use up three of your universal slots.
Also the magazines loaded in your long gun and sidearm shouldn't count towards your slot allotment. Currently, if you want to carry 3 mags on your PC you have to select 4 mag slots. 3 on the plate carrier and 1 in the gun.

Typically in-game I have 2 pistol mags (1 on the carrier 1 on the gun) and 4 rifle mags (3 on the PC etc) but it's unusual if I use more than 1 and a half mags total.

In the real world you would have significantly more pistol mags. Remember in addition to the PC you also have your duty/battle belt. So it's very probable that you have anywhere from 1-5 (2-3 being what I see the most) pistol mags on your belt. And some users may choose to supplement with 1 or 2 pistol mags on their placard. Depending on your needs and how frequently you bring out the long gun you'll also probably have at least 1 rifle mag on the belt.

What is it exactly about so many threads that are asking to make the game more easy - excluding the wonky A.I.
"Give us a million grenades, a thousand bullets, because I shouldn't be dying and should win every single time etc" like if you feel you are going to run out of ammo, then you can bring up to like 6 mags with a secondary also, the game is more than reasonable with carry count.
Its more about the fact of the sheer amount of enemies such as the case of Cherryessa farm along with the fact they wear literal body armor, hence it takes quite a couple of rounds to take them out and more often than not you start to run dry quick.

But it isn't just YOUR mags that are being fired, you are not the only player who has to deal with all the A.I on Cherryssa Farm. There shoudn't be any problems if every player has at least 4 or 5 mags.
When you are typically going with the rest of the team being AI, who can hardly be super relied on its a issue
