I saw that thread, it was actually super confusing to follow and the OP eventually just ended up saying "Never mind I don't need your help I figured it out."
I clearly read where it said the AI members will have your same attachments, but that thread went off the rails pretty quick and there was never a confirmed straight answer on if that was the ONLY way or not.
Phuh...this was not a case of just making a new thread without searching first.
You MUST go back to the gear-selection locker and at least click on all the names (Alpha-Beta, Delta) of your squad-mates and the weapon you just modified to "refresh" the load-out once you're done for it to take effect. I.E If you equip everyone and yourself with an MP5 and then attach a flash light on your MP5 your squad AI mates will not have that flash light until you visit the locker and click their names/weapon to refresh their load-out.
Basically, any time you modify a weapon at the table your modifying it for your whole team, (Or yourself + whichever team member and his weapon you select again in your locker to refresh it) your team can have a different weapon with different attachments than yours, just make sure to modify those weapons first and then revisit the locker.
You can even use this method to have the same primary weapon with diff mods for each member, IE. Mod a Laser on my MP5, re-select Alpha and his MP5, Modify the MP5 again with a flash light and then select Bravo and his MP5, etc.
Another example: If you wanted two of your team to have the M4A1 with lasers and two with a flash light, you modify an M4A1 with a laser, go back to the locker and re-select the M4A1 on the two teammates you want to use that load out, then modify the M4A1 again with a flash light and then go back to the locker and select the M4A1 on the two members you want with a flash light, and so on.
The good news is there IS logic in-place for AI when using things such as flash lights which is awesome. They'll follow your lead, when your flash light is turned off the will turn theirs off, and when you flip yours on they will follow suit and do they same. There's even a realistic reaction time of them seeing you turn your light on or off and responding when doing the same, it's pretty cool.
It's a bit confusing but with the current system you can absolutely load out your squad with no restrictions.
Off-Topic and random fun fact: Most metro-city SWAT teams would be running with the same primary weapons for the assault team these days (albeit with possibly slightly varied attachments depending on what that depts policy allowed, and specialist positions if incorporated on that team: AKA Teams that have positions such as rear-guards or entry officers might have a member with a shotgun). For the most part though these days with how strict policy is you'd be pretty hard pressed to find a metro swat team where one member had an MP5 and one had an M4 for example outside of an ABC agency like FBI HRT that allows more freedom and personal choice to the officers on what equipment and modifications they can use in a situation.
A modern shot showing a full element of the Dallas Swat team with their weapons visible, note the lack of variation in the actual weapons they use outside of the mods:

Another Metro city team San Bernardino all with the same primaries: https://www.americanspecialops.com/images/swat/swat.jpg
in fact most teams in the US will all be using the same two or three primary weapons. The days of officers having drastically varying primary weapons akin to something like the LAPD swat teams in the mid 80s and early 90s are over.
Hopefully it'll help other people and hopefully they'll use the search function to find it.
I know MP is super popular in RON but I hope the single-player and AI developments don't fall to the backside do the MP popularity.
