any purpose to breaching tools other than c2?
when you enter a room with contacts you'll want them concussed or dead so you don't get aimbotted, you can do that by peeking and throwing a flash/stinger or by blowing the door with c2. If you are peeking it already you don't need to breach, you just flash and shove the door open.

aggressively swinging the door open with a battering ram or breaching shotgun without peek flashing is a great way to tank the whole run if there's an enemy in an unexpected position when the door opens. I just don't understand the role these tools are meant to play with the game in its current state

also you might say "it's to quickly and cheaply open locked doors" but the existence of traps negates this advantage - you either have to use the mirror gun first or lockpick every locked door for traps, which means you're spending enough time at the door to slow clear it anyway unless you're ok with triggering every trap

The speed of the battering ram/breaching shotgun is worth it in certain modes such as Active Shooter, where you need to be fast. Maybe not as useful overall as the Mirror Gun or Shield, but certainly not pointless.

Other modes/levels and the such might put more merit to these two pieces of equipment.

I'll agree on the ram, but the breaching shotgun is pretty useful. It is a bit hindered by traps, but it doesn't fully swing a door all the way open. I've had it set off traps sometimes, but not every time. If you're farther away from the door and/or shooting the door in a different spot, you might be able to consistently pop open a locked and trapped door without setting the trap off. It's something I need to test myself.

That being said, you can mirrorgun/shotgun a door pretty quickly, and throwing a quick grenade with a breaching shotgun equipped will switch from your shotgun to the grenade, and then to your primary weapon afterwards. (edit: I now realize you can't actually have both of these equipped either lmao, but it's good with teammates).

The Battering Ram is basically only useful if:

1) The door is locked.
2) The door isn't trapped (which you can't find out without lockpicking or an optiwand).
3) There are no hostiles in the room behind the door you're going to smack with the ram (since you have to hit the door dead-center and the door swings wide open).

The Battering Ram is nice if all three of those conditions apply. That being said, if all three of those conditions ARE satisfied, you can just kick the door in, which doesn't require a gadget. So basically, the battering ram is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pointless. Bring the optiwand instead.

I mean depends if score/rank matters to you. If you want to go lethal and just play casually C2 is fine, but if you want to get S rank you can't afford to kill a suspect. Also civilians can possibly spawn behind doors, so that rules C2 out of the question, unless you don't care for the -350 point penalty.

Also, not to mention that killing a suspect with C2 seems to count as unauthorized use of deadly force. I had that happen to me once.

i think you can get away with it on "raid" missions

Maybe there was some ♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ that happened or something, on second thought. Even on Barricaded Suspects you can just kill anyone holding a gun without ever asking compliance and you won't be penalized for it.
