Equip shield?

I have 1 member with a shield however he always wears it on his back, how do I get him to equip it and lead entry through a door?

He'll blow up or get shot eventually.

Default is the #5 of the keyboard. Should pull shield and pistol at the same time.

I only have 1 guy with shield if he is (say) blue team how do I instruct him to use it?

You can't. Shield are useless.

Well they are pretty usefull, I dont know how you could find them useless.
