Gunshot audio too loud
I really hope this isn't intentional, but the gunshots are too loud. Yeah yeah realism, but I don't want actual hearing loss. Trying to balance the audio either blows out my ears to comfortably hear the AI or the AI might as well be mouthing words if I lower it so the gunshots are bearable? Any ways around this?

are you using headphones or like a 5.1/7.1 kinda setup? As I use headphones and have not encountered this.

Gunshots are loud.....very loud.....game represents that very realistic. use suppressors if it bothers you. that will lower the volume a little bit.....

use volume equalization in ur windows audio options or realtek - whatever u use. this way all sounds will be even instead of everything quiet and shots very loud.

solution : ear-pro/hearing protection
Same issue here, when using a (virtual) 7.1 HS gunshots and especially C2 because too loud. But lowering the volume makes everything else unhearable.

That's the point, loud noises are supposed to interfere with communication, that's why you establish standard operating procedures (SOP) to reduce the need for verbal communication when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan.

The whole "It'S ReALliSTiC!!" point is bulls-. You know the operators are wearing hearingprotection? The ones that muffle sounds that are too loud for human hearing without affecting quieter sound like voices.

Also FYI: You should know when something's wrong when reloading your weapon is louder than the SWAT officers yelling at a suspect to put their hands-up.

@OP: You might want to play with the Master volume setting more than the SFX. For some reason SFX affects the quieter sounds way more than loud sounds, so drop the Master a lot and then fine tune with SFX and see if that helps.

OP is correct
The gunshots are overwhelmingly louder that the rest of the games audio.
Playing with headphones I can barely hear people speaking, but I can't increase the volume, because of the obnoxiously loud gunshots.
'but mah realizm'

This is a game. Not real life. Audio needs work.

just use DRC in your output device enhancments tab... it makes quiet things louder and loud things quieter

real talk, whoever tries to point out how unsuppressed firearms are loud, has definitely not shot a real firearm once in their life. (we already know that real-life gunshots are loud. no need to remind us)

and even if this is a game, the devs have intended for this game to stay *realistic*. so don't expect sugarcoated pew-pew sfx.

suggestions : get tf over it, wait for devs to release hearing protection/ear-pros in gear options, or attach a can to your firearms.
