As far as needing a flashlight in daytime--well yeah, dark places exist in daytime. Also, how does time of day affect an indoor map?
Of course you need flashlights in daytime maps, maybe that wasn't the best example for me to use, but what I meant it that there is little to no bounce-light on maps. If you are in a pitch dark room and turn on a flashlight, it's not just the center beam that is lit up but the surrounding area has vague dim lighting.
The penthouse rooms for example have very extreme lighting. They are in a work-in-progress state, though there are plenty of spots where there is a lit up section of the room, then beyond that it is almost pitch darkness.
I understand that the game is in early access, though I still hope that they fix the lighting to be more realistic and improve the appearance of the maps as a whole.
On the plus side, the NVGs are insanely good after the rework, but basically every single map in the game forces you to run them to see anything at all. The flashlights are complete ass in RoN for some reason. Hell, Cry of Fear has flashlights that are better than this ♥♥♥♥.
Hmm. I might just have to jack up my gamma or something. I'll take a look around.
If you take the time and actually look around, you'll quickly see how overly aggressive the lighting optimization is. Cross the bridge on Twisted Nerve on Raid, and the light on the hallway in the main house is rendered out, pretty much making it near impossible to see any suspects without the use of a flashlight 10 meters away.
The same can be said about the car dealership level. Lighting is rendered out once you cross in another room. The gas station in the cafeteria section has that issue too. Basically the lighting turns on only when the player is relatively close to it, where otherwise, if you are outside of that render radius, you have to rely on a flashlight for a light that's supposed to be there but it's not.
You can use night vision goggles and flashlights, yes, but that doesn't justify poor game design to be ignored.
And we need to be able to cut the power!
I play on Lowest because my friend also
it for me to being fair to them
Maybe before commenting you should understand what the actual issue is and coming here with the passive aggressive response.
The issue is that the game has very inconsistent lighting that render out over distance. Since you were too thick to understand that, I'll give you photos to maybe help you conceptualize a fraction of the issue.

It renders in as you get closer. It's not about user settings, it's about the aggressive optimization that the game has.

Some of the lights are there just as map cosmetics that don't even function.
