Ever seen a green laser? I have one where the light path is quite visible even with moderate ambient lighting. At night it's akin to a lightsaber.

My visible green laser on my MAWL C1+ and my DBAL A3 are both just dots on the targets unless in high dust or sometimes foggy conditions. This game represents them accurately.

The red dot visible is an accurate representation of a $5 laser pointer from Alibaba. It should be replaced with a decent GL. In these dark rooms, a green laser would be extremely visible even without dust. Even a $200 viridian pistol laser from Walmart is 100x more visible. Think of how the IR-GL looks like with NVG, it should look the same for the visible laser.

couldnt be more wrong about the cost of the laser but what would you expect from the sunday experts on steam community forums eh?

There are many types of lasers available and both military and non military can come with a visible beam, it all depends on 3 factors:


The frequency of the laser.
The strength of the laser.
The dust or mist in the air.


It doesnt make sense to use visible laser in CQC unless you want your suspects/enemies to know where it originates from and lose 90% of its tactical usefuleness.

When you see a laser beam, what you are really seeing is the beam being scattered by various small particles suspended in the air. How well you see the beam will depend on how clear the air is, and on the ambient light levels the laser beam has to compete with.

In a night club, the air may have a high degree of smoke or other contaminants which will make the beam more visible, and the ambient light will be low, so they will stand out more. When people want to show off laser beams, they often add smoke or equivalent to the air.

Green colored lasers will also tend to stand out more, because the reception of the human retina peaks near that wavelength. Your "invisible" laser is probably a red colored laser operating in a brighter environment with clearer air. Take it into a dark smoke filled room and you will see it's beam just fine.

Theres plenty of lasers out there that you can see in mid-air lol, its just that most weapon lasers wont. Like other people said, you dont want a visible line showing where youre located at all times

Well both those models that I have are milspec lasers and cost over $1K. The MAWL is almost $3K. Trust me when I say that they are being represented accurately. But you can go on youtube and see for yourself. The "light saber" effect is not a realistic thing....

Here's a good video explaining why SWAT teams use visible lasers while wearing masks and shooting. Also note that you see the "laser line" when the smoke from the cartridge is introduced into the atmosphere. Without it, you just see a dot on the target......

as others have said most legit laser aiming devices arent powerful enough to create a beam with the vis laser (depending on the environment) , the only lasers I've seen that do create beams are IR lasers like the MAWL, Steiner DBAL+OTAL, L3 Harris peq-15 etc. Most IR laser aiming devices are a combination of IR/VIS laser/IR illuminator, the most common use of the vis laser is just to zero the IR laser.

I own a MAWL C1+. You are confusing the laser with the illuminator. What you are seeing when the room floods with IR light is due to the illuminator being used in conjuction with the laser. The IR laser itself does not have enough "flood" to illuminate the room. It's merely a single beam. Here's a video from Garand Thumb. He showcases the differences under NVGs starting at 18:30.

No, I am not. I am saying if its a MAWL C1+ representation in-game it is missing an illuminator with D mode.
