High CPU Temps (soft fix for Nvidia users)
I've been playing Warhammer 3 off and on again for a few months and every time I play the CPU temp goes up to 85C after 15 minutes. It doesn't stay consistent tho. It will spike to 85C then instantly goes down to 70C. It stays around 70C when playing and it stays around 63C on the main menu. I tried lowering the graphic settings and it didn't work. For some reason Warhammer 3 is the only game that does this. It didn't do this when the game first came out.
My Specs:
1080 GPU
Intel Core i7 8700K 6 cores 12 threads
16GB RAM
TUF Z370-PLUS GAMING LGA 1151 mother board

FOUND A FIX:
Capping the FPS
Here is a step-by-step for Nvidia users.

1. Right click on your desktop and click Nvidia Control Panel
2. Go to 3D Settings and click Manage 3D settings
3. Click on Program setting (this is for a individual program instead of the whole system)
4. Select Total War: Warhammer 3 under "select a program to customize."
5. After the game is selected scroll down until you see "max frame rate."
6. Click it and then set the max frame rate to 30fps or 60fps. Also cap the frame rate for the "Background Application Max Frame Rate."
With 60fps you'll still get high CPU temps, but it won't go above 80C. 30fps works better for me, I'm averaging 67C,

This makes the 14th thread on the same topic I have answered, if the moderators were doing their jobs properly they would pin the solution to this as it gets asked so often. Ironically this will probably get me suspended for criticising the moderators and you won't get to read the solution. :steammocking:

You have to restrict the voltage/power to your GPU, the game draws max power regardless of the graphical settings.
It will vary for everyone but I reduced mine by -20% and it dropped my FPS by 10 but aside from that the game plays and runs exactly the same but instead of running at 85c it runs at 65c

Hope that helps

Ok I'll try that. Thanks.

do you mean CPU or does it only work with the GPU?

GPU, unless for some reason the game is cooking your CPU too but for most of us it's just the GPU that is being cooked because the game constantly draws MAX voltage regardless of settings.

Thanks for that. I have a 4090 Nvidia and it was jerky as hell even setting down to low quality. I've capped the fps and it is now beautifully smooth on ultra settings.

Pleased to see that, because I was thinking I was inside the 2 hours, I would refund it.
