Warning - All my cpu cores is at nearly 100% all of time and Norton (for gamers version) warns about high cpu usage and that what alerted me on my new PC.

My old pc got cooked cpu and i been only playing this games for a few months and then the cpu just said farewell. Sent it to repair which i now want a refund from the company of Games Workshop.

Allowing game developer to COOK PEOPLE's CPU just by playing your game is a BIG NO NO!
Either fix this issue and make the info clear and available to everyone who has your game,
or face lawsuit from everyone concerned (the consumer and the investors)!

This is no longer a warning from me personally BUT A DEMAND!

PERIOD!

I wouldn't doubt if you said it was cooking your GPU, but your CPU?
Why would GW be responsible for refunding you? At most it'd be CA who's responsible, but hardware throttles down and, at the extreme, should just shut down if it is truly in danger.

What's your hardware? Did you set any limit on framerate or just telling the hardware to push as much as possible?

Besides, the CPU really kicks in during the turn processing, not as much while you're doing your own stuff.

It's a 14900, right? 13900?

My 13900 isn't 100% at all time though :P

The reason I asked wasn't because of the OP's claim of 100% load always. That's irrelevant and useless; a misunderstanding of how things work and what can cause damage.

But if someone claims their CPU got damaged, it would be very useful to know if it's a CPU that is known to have a dangerous flaw that slowly cause it to self-destruct.

The i9-13900K and i9-14900K, and KF/KS versions, are known to do that and require a BIOS update to stop them from, basically, melting. I figure it's a good idea to try to get the word out since intel has NOT issued a recall despite it being a known and fairly big problem.
(Yes, it's the overclockable processors, which are the most popular among high performance gamers. That in itself does cause a higher risk, but this is - as far as I know - not directly related to overclocking, but to the mechanism adjusting voltage being faulty and gradully increasing voltage in certain situations, causing crashes and eventually melting the CPU.).

I don't know if that's happened to the OP, which is why I asked about the model, but.. it does sound likely, no?

Currently only ~5% of CPU's have developed faults from this error, but with this many players, it will happen to some every week.

Norton for gaming: uninstall norton. Norton is known for causing a lot of false positives in games, especially those based on unreal engine.

We get loads of repairs at work where the main complaint is a slow computer, if any norton software is installed we uninstall it immediately for a significant gain in system speed. Your hardware being used at (or near) 100% is not an issue (it is designed to do so without issues), though you'll be able to gain a lot of system resources by removing Norton software.

With the exception of windows, there is no software that can directly affect your hardware, never mind damage it. Claiming something like that just screams "I have no clue how computers work", hardware failures are hardware issues. This includes the design flaw in 13th/14th gen intel chips Falaris mentions above.

Demanding a refund from Games Workshop is also a bit silly, as Creative Assembly is the developer, not GW.

Haha what CPU is that ? Some Celeron ? Bulldozer ? :steammocking:
CPU cooking isn't a software problem but a hardware or setup issue (bad cooling, bad BIOS settings..)

You can simply go into settings and change the power settings which determines the power usage including the CPU and GPU usage. Or a separate APP will allow you to regulate your CPU usage. WH3 does indeed use as much CPU/GPU power it can though.
