failed to join game: connection timed out (help please)

this error is happening whenever i try to join a server, whats causing this? ive tried turning off my firewall and verifying the files. ive recently switched to a new computer (which is a solid upgrade over the old) with no changes in internet and it was working fine on the old computer

seems to be certain people having the problem. i have no issues while 2 of my friends who cant connect to anyone

ok well this popped up again.
i ended up contacting sega support because this turned out to be a big complicated thing to fix. in the end a number of things were tried and i really wish i could tell you what worked, but everything seemed to fail until it just worked on day on a boot up.

The only thing I've seen researching this is that this issue goes back years and to the older games and the only way it can be fixed is just by waiting and it will eventually just work again

Failed to connect again today. Never encountered this before.
Have made every effort to troubleshoot and yet no results...
One day, we are able to play together and the next we cannot connect to one another.

Asking again, does anyone have any solutions?
CA's support team is an abysmal joke.
No hardware or software changes(updates or otherwise) between the day it worked and the day it didn't.

Doesn't seem like a widespread issue too unfortunately.

So the only solution I have found is to install Radmin VPN (I suggest Radmin because it's easy and free https://www.radmin-vpn.com/ ). Just download it, make a network, password it if you want, and have your friends install it and connect to the network. If you've ever used Hamachi before it's effectively the same system. Once you're all in the network together you can join each others games without the error.

I have no clue why this works but it was the only way I've been able to play with my friends since this bug randomly plagued my Total War. Everything I've read online both recent and years old says people seem to just randomly get this issue and that it will, after a also random amount of time, just stop happening. So until that happens this is all I got to help y'all.

I should also mention Radmin has like pretty much no setup and doesn't require an account.

+1 same issue and same scenario, worked fine the day before, stopped working the day after, no changes in mods or anything, cant even join vanilla lobbies with all mods uninstalled

FOUND A FIX, Uninstall the launcher file from the game folder and validate game files, immediately fixed for me once it redownloaded, saw somewhere it may be a launcher issue which prompted the idea to only uninstall the launcher!

How do I uninstall the launcher I can't figure it out at first glance
