about Lunatic Mode
Is it just me or it is extremely difficult to ramp up your deck power to a sufficient level such that you can comfortably defeat the mobs and arrive at the boss with a decent HP on Act 1? The starting deck is too bloated for Lunatic imo and the initial cards are very weak too. I always have to take healing at gap just to get by each section.

*pardon my wrong game terms

It's all intentional. The basic Cards are intentional bloat. Enemies purposely are no longer able to be consistently full-blocked so some damage is inevitable. The rest choice at the Gaps is now actually an option you pick even if you don't make any mistakes. Your win-rate can no longer be 100% with good skill (Although you can try your hardest to approach it!). It's harder to get off the ground and your card reward choices are more important than ever.

Basically, Lunatic difficulty is just like Slay the Spire is. You can't be comfortable until you've assembled a lean, mean, bonkers machine of a deck. Until then, what you're going through and feeling about Act 1 is intentional game design. You're playing the hardest difficulty.

Nope, Lunatic is fairly easy if you're used to playing deckbuilders. I can clear Seija 95% of my runs. The only character I haven't done it with yet is Cirno and her cards might be a bit challenging but all the other characters have OP decks if you're playing their strong loadout, especially Blue Sakuya.

I have some vids on my channel. The full playthrough is on Hard but Lunatic is honestly not much more difficult. Got a Marissa video due out on Monday and probably Reimu the Monday after that and we'll have to see about Cirno.

Interesting, I have beaten her with everyone EXCEPT blue Sakuya and Cirno is by far the easiest for me haha

I haven't actually tried Cirno on Lunatic yet but I just feel she has the weakest card set. Cold is a crap mechanic and teammates, while they can be good, are also slow and they reduce your hand size. It just feels like she would be a bit more difficult to play than the others.

Lunatic 0 isn't so bad, Lunatic 7 is quite difficult though.

Best advice I can give you is become BASED and REDPILLED if you want to fight elites. If not, it's totally OK to skip them: you can get extra gaps, which is pretty good.

It also taught me to love the royal pillow or tea set or whatever the relic is that gives you extra healing on rests.

Cirno has rigged op card pool actually. Probably one of the strongest characters

Unless you are playing L7, you probably just need about half hp give or take at the boss. Health management is a bit of an issue, yes, but generally you can ignore healing at most gaps if you are doing things correctly, it just takes practice

L0 is the most fun difficulty: just difficult enemies, no annoyances like unremovable curse or having less money.

Cirno is the one I've played the most and the one I have highest winrate with. Branching into other colors, especially with green deck is very good. Also, cold isn't crap, it can synergize with everything else very well.

Cold is just 9 delayed damage, unstackable, and that damage is factored into the card's cost making it pretty pointless. The only good synergy it really has is the one that applies Deep Freeze if the enemy already has Cold. Maybe another card or two if I haven't seen them yet but definitely not strong synergy like the other characters.

You can literally stack Cold for 18 damage each time you stack it... So 1x Cold is 9 damage, but 3x Cold is 45. Upgraded Yuki-Onna Visitation in a single enemy encounter is 45 damage for 2 mana.

There are very strong abilities that give you Unity when you apply Cold, and apply Cold when you activate teammates. Ability that makes you gain frost armor when you apply Cold. Ability that can give you 6 firepower if there's a Cold enemy. And so on.
SilentCaay May 9, 2024 @ 8:06am
It doesn't stack, it just does 18 damage immediate instead of 9 delayed if you apply it more than once. But because you're already paying full price for the 9 damage, it's only a minor 1 time benefit and it's difficult to pay for multiple Cold effects in one turn. Compared to effects that stack turn after turn after turn for cheaper, Cold is pretty weak unless you're able to combo it into Deep Freeze or something.

Who is Letty, what is Pure White World, what is Ever Cool Seasonal fantasia, what is Absolute Zero, Blizzard, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FROZEN THRONE.
If I set a Letty, ECSF and Mental Energy injection (8 mana 2 blue 3 green) I am automatically applying 4 cold at the end of every turn for 36-63 unblockable unshieldable damage every single turn passively from that point onwards. Turn 1 that kills most annoying mobs without having to scale and hits the dumbass rabbits 4 times. If I add in frozen matrix Im generating block every time it procs. If I add in Frozen throne Im generating another 18 free damage every turn. Add absolute zero (1 mana cost) and all damage jumps another 9 points to 27 per. Add Icicle dance and they are each doing 56 damage. Now suddenly that single letty is doing over 200 damage up front without having to wait around a bunch of turns to stack up, and is passive so even against a slog like seija or doremy I can STILL just hit end turn and win. Cold is by far the most broken and comboable status in the game BECAUSE it gives you up front damage instead of taking multiple turns to stack up.

Kills regular mobs in 1 or 2 turns? That's adorable.
