Your question puzzled me how to flesh out the atmosphere, this game gives me the feeling of a hunt, not a plastic arcade shooting gallery.

How large are the maps compared to COTW and how do the graphics compare in regards to the actual map in regards to atmosphere? Is there fog, storms that roll in, does the ambient noise sound convincing?
There are fewer maps than in CotW, but since there are no ATVs in the game, these maps are enough for you. There are small ones, where animals themselves go to you, there are large ones, where you have to walk to find an interesting animal.
The weather is set before going to a specific map and is visible to you: sunny, rain, fog.

Do the weapons have impact? Do you really feel like you are firing a rifle? How do the bows feel? What about the impact on the animal, does it look like it's actually been injured? How do the animals respond when hit and how do the animals around it respond?
A weapon is neither good nor very bad - normal. It's nice that the real models. I didn't use the bow. The reaction of animals, which should be, and not like in CotW - as if a child in a school theater is playing death and waiting for applause)) After the shot, everyone within at least 200 m scatter.

If you didn't have the dog do you think you would be able to track the animals in a reasonable fashion?
Of course, animals make sounds, almost all go to decoys well, I haven't tried to follow the tracks without a dog. But you can't get a bird out of the water or drive a turkey out of the grass in a field without a dog.
Originally posted by Soulstain:
How do you track particular animals you have a licence for if there are no watering, eating or resting zones for animals to migrate to during the course of the day?
I just find it and put a mark on the map (each animal has its own), next time there will be either an animal or its tracks in this place. Habitat.

What information are you given about the animal when you turn it in? Do you get detailed information about what you killed so you can compare it to other kills and is there much variation between the animals such as size, fur color, antlers etc.?
It's easier for you to watch videos or screenshots. I don't like the trophy window.

Is there much of a story or missions to follow?
They don't exist, it's just a hunt.
Originally posted by Soulstain:
Does the time progress during the game or can it only be manually changed? Are there night vision scopes or goggles for night hunting?
Manually. Does not exist.
Originally posted by Soulstain:
Does camo in the game affect your visibility or detection by the animals?
Yes, all garments except boots have a visibility level.
Originally posted by Soulstain:
Are there any predators in the game which will attack you?
Not.
Originally posted by Soulstain:
What is it exactly that you mention they need to work on?
Here & Here The game has everything you need to hunt, now you need to polish.

Better than the first game.

Thanks Mr.Cachalot, I appreciate your response to my questions. I will keep an eye on the game as there are some promising aspects to it but from your answers there are too many things missing from the game right now that I personally like in a hunting game. In particular the fact that the animals must just randomly spawn instead of moving realistically from rest to feed to watering holes during the course of a 24hr period allowing you to predict and stalk your prey. This would be even more important in a game where I'm restricted by what I can hunt each time I go out. Also, I rarely use the ATV even on COTW's massive maps so I think I will find the maps too small in HS2. Thanks again.

Sorry if I understood you wrong, my english is not so good but animals does not spwan in HS2, they walk, hunt, drink water and fight agains other animals. ducks swims and fly and turkeys are hidden in bushes or walk near high gras.
Soulstain Jul 17, 2020 @ 3:26am
Sorry, what I meant was that there is no way to predict where a particular species will be. If there are no designated sleep, feed, drink zones to find which are specific to certain species, then you can't head out on a hunt predicting where you will likely find that species at a certain time of day. Which means you also can't setup tree stands or blinds to sit and wait for that species to arrive.

What I meant by the animals spawn in is that when you log into the game it will just spawn the animals randomly around the map. I assume this is how it would work as there would be no purpose to where they travel or why. I also presume this is probably because time doesn't actually progress in the game. If you set the time to morning it will always be morning unless you change the time again manually.

I would purchase the game to try it out but I don't think I could get a real feel for it in the 2hr limit so it is likely better for me to watch it mature for a while. Thanks again.

I can't say what the animals do, the help just says that their behavior is different for different times of the day. I don't think I've ever been able to get turkeys out of the grass in a field during the day. But there are no arcade markers "come here at eight in the morning" about the peculiarities of this behavior on the map, that's for sure)))

You have mentioned licenses more than once and this puzzles me. I'll tell you a little to everyone who is interested. I always have licenses for all animals in all regions. The license costs from 60 to 480 (it seems), while for the puma, for example, they give a reward of ~ 3600. For a bear ~ 4600. All the numbers from memory, I could be wrong. For deer, birds, small predators and others, of which there are several in the license (from three to ten) - less. The cost of the license is always correlated with the animal reward. It is considered something like this: the cost of the license * 10 / the number of animals in the license. For example a cougar, 360 * 10 = 3600/1 = 3600. There is some drift due to the specimen - young, adult, mature. At the beginning of the game, everyone is given one infinite license for any animal on any map, as a gift. It needs to be spent wisely. When all the animals from the license are killed, and you want more, you need to return to the house. It's inexpensive, but walking back and forth ... Therefore, an extended version of the game with infinite licenses for all bears on all maps is very good, in fact, and makes sense. Expensive though. The fastest way to make money in this game is on large animals. In general, I do not see any restrictions on the part of the licensing system, this is an interesting nuance of the game, but not something fundamental that determines the style of the game and that you need to constantly think about.

You already had your answer. You needed no response. Just a COTW fanboy. Go play your same old game.

I agree with your ideas and suggestion.

Good game. Here are a few suggestions I got. I think that the iron sights need to be fixed. There is a weird white circle that appears where the front sight is. I would prefer just to see the bead or blade sight only. They can offer illuminated paint on the sights. For low light.

When the action of the weapons are cycling I think they need to add an animation When the character manipulates the weapons. Line of sight should break as the action of the weapon is operated. See video at 6:00 for an example.

I suggest for future weapons adjustable ironsights. The buck horn sights on the winchesters 94s are adjustable for elevation. This will help the shooter to choose a point of aim and elevation zero for the gun.

all your suggestions are nice and so.... but none of them will never come, only DLC will come..
Mr.Cachalot Jul 18, 2020 @ 2:50am
It's strange that the weapon reload animation is in third person view, but not in first person view.

Ha ha, ok dude.

By the way, downloadable content is "DLC". Please stop posting everywhere a day one 20 dollar DLC isn't a DLC it just makes you look silly.
