passengers take wrong train

I have a city with tram lines and one express route out of town to another city. At the big junction station where the tram lines go and the express leaves out of I have local transfer passengers who just need to get on a tram to get to their destination but they hop on the express and ride it out of town and back and they seem to do this a lot since the fare they end up paying is over 8000 and they are mad because to high a fare and too long of travel. they expect 10 min and 10 charge but it ends up 7 hours and 8000. is there any way to prevent local passengers from getting on the wrong train?

Which game version? Pax really should take the fastest route as far as I know...

Is the tram really infrequent or something?

1.2.23.8462 Jul 10 2021. The long way is like 3 hours and the direct route is 5 minutes and the trams run about every 2 minutes. The long way runs about every 10 minutes.

Is your tram line open in "full" mode? I suspect in 1.2 one of the most frequently met issues would be people opening a new line but fail to realize that their line is either "closed" or "empty train".

I did discover that quirk early and they are in "full" mode. I have gone further and actually removed all direct connections and I now have people taking a train from City X to City Y to city Z and back to city X to go five blocks.

Ah also, are your transfer stations correctly integrated? If an interchange has two station labels this means you have two stations in the area and passengers will NEVER transfer between each other.

Sorry if this sounds nonsense, but as an outsider I wish to have every possibility sorted out first.

I do have a couple that have two station labels right next to each other but I have no idea how to fix that. I am not sure if that particular station is the one I am having issues with. I will check that. ( I have seen on the station list where the colors of the routes at the interchange are shown so I assume that means at least those stations have proper connections. )

To have proper connections they have to merge. If they have two labels, you could blueprint a tram station from one to the other.

This is not a very good screen capture, but it should be able to explain what nicko_viteh is saying. Note the blueprint underground station connecting the rail station in the middle and the tram stop near the lower right-hand corner.

i don't know how to import an image but I have one station depot and the track platforms go either side of the depot but the tracks platforms both have the stop name on them so I am assuming they are two different stops without connections? (my stations are nowhere neat as patrickov's.) :) So I guess they come in on one side, take the train to the other city to return on the other side and then go on to their destination. Is that correct?

Yes it is correct.

I assume if you drag a new blueprint platform (tram or underground) to connect the two there will only be one label? (You do NOT have to actually build it though)
