Depots?
should i convert my depot areas to single track stations. i have built multiple depot areas that form train yards. now they are empty track dead ends. so is that the purpose of creating depot lines to get the train from the yard to the actual first station on line if you are not going to use that first station on the line for storage or downtime for an individual train set?

Make at least 2 of those dead tracks into Depot lines. Have one as the Black hole the other(s) as wait platforms. then append the Depot line to your running line.. job done. Well almost.

thanks. what seems so complicated with 1.5 is that there so many new options to run lines. in 1.4 i never really went with running trains in intervals. that why so many depots. where i could work with each train set on when its going to run &when it stored for example to mimick am & pm rush hours & less trains on weekends ect. i play with unlimited money for this reason a lot of trail & error.

Take a look at my 1.5 guide, there are a couple of pages on options with managing depots. A depot in 1.5 is a combination of a platform and a one-platform line. The easiest way to transition is to set up the depot as black hole, which will act pretty much like a 1.4 depot. I would build this new depot (i.e. a platform) next to your old one (you can even place it on top of the old one) and then once you transition, I would delete the old one.

The one station line essentially is used to tell trains what platform to use for depot. You would give a train an order to proceed to this one-station line at the end of the day, and the train will automatically go there from your last station on the line. And in the opposite direction in the morning based on an order to go to revenue service.

Thanks. I will have a lot of questions once i start really to get these trains to leave & depart when i want them to avoid conflicts at complex interlocking sections. with 1.4 each purchased train would have its own line & depot to be stored when not actively running the line. This way i can avoid the automatic intervals which i did not like. in 1.4 the maxium time you can have a train wait at a station was 23:59:59 so with weekday only trains this did not work. With 1.5 i was successful with having a train set sit visibly for over 47hrs at a station (depot). So i was wondering i haven't
tried it because i probaly don"t need to but what is the maxium time a train can wait at a station (depot) visibly with 1.5? I'm thinking 167hrs 59minutes 59seconds one second shy of a full week like 1.4 was 23:59:59 one second shy of a full 24hrs or maybe it"s 99:59:59. Who knows?
