Performance of the Game
So I really love this game and everything about it, but there is a problem.
Every time I want to work on a line, either setting the cruise speed, the min stop time or just set the tick at "Interval wait at this stop", I have to wait about 4 Seconds for the game to do what I want. Even if I am creating a completly new line.
I have about 400k Sekments and 10k Stations, at least that is what it says on the loading screen, but that should not really be a matter if I want to alter one line or create a new one.
I guess something in the background has to check many many things before the task is done. It would be very nice to toggle these checks or whatever it is the game does and then toggle it back when I am finished with all the tasks I have in mind for the given line.
I am also never running the game while I do stuff, because I have at most 10 FPS and that is with the pax demand factor set to 1% and the demand in the demand.tsv File all divided by a factor of 10.
I do understand that there are limits to what can be calculated, but it is a little bit sad nontheless.

400K track segments and 10K station is at the limit of what I've seen the game can handle, I'm only aware of one larger save than that. Line editing involves a flush of a track network pathfinding cache. If you have a lot of lines over a lot of track segments it can add up to a substantial delay for some operations. It might be the case the flush is not fine grained enough (all lines vs the line being edited for example), I will look into this possibility, but still, good work for beating the game, in a way :)

how to check how many segments built? I have 7k stations and only using 5% demand, the game still payable at this stage.....(and I only cover half of China with some SE Asia)

Segment builts is the "track validation" countdown you see on loading a saved game. I will add a proper in-game counter in 1.4.

OK, a new thing I can do to improve the performance of my Central Canadian and Midwestern save, reduce unnecessary track segments! I already did a full audit of my lines and cut about 100 of them and then reduced frequencies (pruning about 2000 trains). I will look to single some under used double track lines and other redundant track (such as tram tracks I no longer used. I'm at about 350k track segments now so I need to do some pruning before more expansion

Thank you, I am quite honored for that achievement.
I guess I just have to wait a little longer then when I want to do something. Thanks for the detailed answer.

I just want to bump this thread now that there have been some updates. Is 400k track segments still the upper ceiling? The reason I ask is that my main save has around 373k sgements so I need to know if I can continue to expand at will or if I need to start single tracking lines and maybe even Beeching things

Well, if you ask for my perspective, the game runs nearly as slow as it did before, but I'm planning on upgrading my ram from 2.2 Mhz to 3.8 soon, maybe theres a difference, but it loads really freaking fast now with the new update.

Since then I upgraded my RAM from 48 GB to 4000 Mhz 64 GB. It made a huge improvement oder the 2.2 Mhz. I have not build that much more but just converted my save game to v1.4 so I don't know if much more is possible.
