I cannot launch the game for an unclear reason. Why?

Every time I click to launch the game, the launcher comes up like it should, it checks files, negotiates, collates, etc. then a message pops up saying: "Please make sure you have administrator privileges and that no other program is using this file." It then goes on to say "Retrying in 30 seconds." Clearly indicating that it failed to launch, so I wait 30 seconds. After the 30 seconds, with the same message coming up about having admin privileges, it says that the game failed to launch, please close the launcher and try again. Mind you, this is after about 10 times of 'trying again' like it said.

I have one thing to say about this: dafaq?

The reason this literally makes no sense is because, for one, there is only one account on my computer, and it is an administrator, so that must not be the problem. The other reason just confuses me, how could I possibly have the file open anywhere else? It will not let me open it to begin with, so how could it be open and running anywhere else on my computer.

It eventually came to me that the game may have had a problem installing, and some files were not fully downloaded, or had a problem downloading, so an obvious solution would be to reinstall it. I really don't want to have to do this again when it may just be a simple problem with an easy way to correct it. If anyone has a solution to this, PLEASE tell me, I am not desperate to play this game, but I did just spend my entire Saturday waiting for it to download so I could play it with a friend, so a soultion would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing, why was I told to make an account to play this game? When in the launcher, it just uses my Steam credentials to sign me in. And every time I (try to) launch the game, it tells me to make an account on their website because it could not find any account information, which makes sense because the launcher never asked me to enter any account information. I am just confused on why I was told to make an account if I can't even enter it anywhere to sign in.

Sorry for this being so long, but when an entire Saturday was wasted downloading something and decides not to work, obvious disappiontment ensues. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Alright. Just because you are on a adminstrator account does not actually allowt the game admin priviledges needed to adjust game files. Right click on Fallen Earth. Goto Properties. Compatability. Look down and you should see a box next to run as adminstrator. Check that.

As for your other question. Yes, the game will use your steam credientials to sign you because it will link your FE account to your Steam account by remembering your username and password. If you never actually made a FE account, then you won't log in once the updater is finished.

Oh, Fallen Earth is run by Gamersfirst so if you have a gamersfirst account that will work for FE. I hope I helped some.

same error by me. I reinstall the game already and also tryed running as admin (thought the Windows acc. i using os already admin....), bur still got the masagge any ideas?

ps. as Info: i already played the game a lot, and it worked all good untill the 2.6 update so ... no idea why it stucks right now....
