How is this game?
Used to play this a lot back in the day before it shut down, what's it like now?

Are the microtransactions still pay2win? What's the most/least popular factions? How's the PvE these days?

Game has zero external market in the current state. No cash shop for anything. You do have some of the premium perks automatically though.

Game is a shell of what it once was, but the PVE is at least entertaining enough for some. There is limited PVP but I'm not at the point where I could say on the factions status.

No cash shop at all, huh? And they still have the monthly sub?

No monthly subs.

what pay2win microtransactions do you remember? The only things you could buy were cosmetic items and things. I mean I guess the insta craft / respec injectors could be considered "pay to win" but its not like you need them. Everyone is automatically granted Commander premium, and certain things pop up here and there. They added the unlock all wardrobe to the merchant in embry for example. As stated before the game is a shell of what it used to be, and it seems the servers are constantly undergoing maintenance or failing. Aside from the bad days of maintenance (I always pick the wrong times to hop on lol) the game is still as classy as ever. Can be fun, can be boring, but at least its not RuneScape!

Nothing specifically though I recall people saying you need to pay for the sub if you want to make meaningful progress in the game, granted that was years ago now. I'm in the EU so it sounds like I'd have a difficult time playing this game with a stable connection anyway.

I'm a relatively new player and I enjoy it for the PvE. It's a bit janky but it gives the game some personality.

There's a massive number of steam achievements, all geared towards PvE, if you need some direction or goals.

Oh, I see, neat! As for the cash shop items they had before, vehicles, clothing etc, since they removed the shop have they since made it possible to somehow earn those items in-game?
Low Ping Pingu May 13, 2022 @ 12:51pm
I honestly have no idea as the cash shop items never interested me.

Lockboxes and Keys drop still, so most of the paid store items are available in some way (grinding keys off bosses is a long grind tho). Commanders best kits are currently unobtainable as there was an exploit loop in the in game RP store so they removed them. Wardrobe unlocks are still available, they are at the t-shirt merchants in most larger towns (just in game chips for those). They are also running some of the events so event only stuff is out there in the wild.

Where would be a good place to farm these keys?

Generally the world bosses will drop keys, but the chance is determined by RNG and not set very high. So it's a hell of a grind.
DOWN again? WTF is going on.
