That's bulls**t. I've played it for years and yes, it wasn't all that very polished, but it sure wasn't "nearly unplayable". Unless you're one of those from the "how to horse", or "how do I put the horse back in my inventory ?" crowd. Then yeah, it was unplayable, because you actually would have had to use your brain.
That said for an MMO that released back during BC World of Warcraft and got zero and I mean Zero updates. It ran surprisingly well.
