I think u use a 32-bit version of Windows, but the developer made it for a 64-bit system. So actually Windows does not know, that it might use more than 2GB RAM for the game.
HOW TO FIX IT:
press the start button on ur desktop > type "cmd" in the searchline > right click on the "cmd" and start as administrator > there in the line type this: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072 > press enter and look, if there is written, that it was successfull > after that close the cmd window and restart ur PC
THATS IT
What u did now, is to configure a "3GB Switch" for ur system, that makes ur PC know, that it now might use more then 3GB RAM for the game.
Have fun!
Windows 7 Pro X64
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66Ghz
4GB DDR3 1333mhz Dual Channel Ram
EVGA Nvidia Geforce 460GTX 1GB DDR5 Superclocked Edition
I was frequently hard crashing until I did that.
If that doesn't fix it, I'd recommend doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of your drivers.
Uninstall all the Nvidia components in the [Control Panel > Uninstall a Program] except for the drivers. Uninstall the drivers AFTER you've uninstalled all the other Nvidia components. Then re-install the most recent drivers.
And if that doesn't help you may want to start testing your hardware. To test your RAM you need to run memtest, to check your CPU I recommend Prime95, and for GPU I recommend furmark. They basically stress your hardware and if it crashes you know where the failure is.
If your laptop can run it but your desktop is crashing, then it's probably the desktop. Also RAM can be bad when it's new.
thanks for your help though
