Multiplayer will be in VS#4 from looking at LINK: SE2 Vertical Slice Roadmap[2.spaceengineersgame.com]. >w>
But do 2 the roadmap not having dates on it, I estimate maybe 1~2yrs from now. >w<
Although it could be much earilier since SE2 Dev team is much bigger dan SE1 dev team from back when SE1 first launched. :3
As I said in another thread in SE2 forums dat U should NOT rush KSH 2 much, let em finalize the core features of the game first, be4 moving on 2 the extra features such as MP support, so they do NOT end up in a Logistical Nightmare between the core components of the game, and the extra features dat'll be tacked on later. ^w^
A good game gotta have a good foundation first. >:3
I have found that when it comes to gaming its far better to not depend on timelines given by companies. In fact, I go even further and just assume that unless I can download it, its just an idea nothing more.
Indeed if you read Steam early access policies, that is you have purchased. It doesn't give you a right to a finished game. There is a risk that the game that will never be completed (though as an established developer, Keen aren't the risk some other studios may be). If you are not convinced that the game is not for you yet, maybe wait to buy. That is what Keen have advised.
I wouldn't count on that, we're talking about the SE2 alpha being released 39 days after it was announced. If it took them those 39 days to have their alpha ready with just the creative and a few blocks, let's not even talk about how long it will take them to get to each vertical section of their roadmap.
I really am of the opinion that I would have preferred not to know anything about SE2 until it was at least close to the current content of SE1. Or if as they say it is so that people actively help them with the game, at least have approximate dates for each vertical section of their roadmap, so you can get an idea and dedicate yourself to other things calmly. But even knowing that I won't buy the game until its content is greatly increased, at least approaching the current SE1 content, I can't help but look for any news to see that we're still the same with exactly the same information as on December 19, 2024.
I'm sorry to be pessimistic, but I sincerely believe that they're going to take their time, even if this time there are 70 dedicated exclusively to SE2, and that in my opinion will kill SE2 before the project is finished. Because although we all know that it's better to start from 0 with a new vrage3 engine, nobody wants to go through 10 years of continuous alpha again. I know I'm exaggerating when I say "nobody" but in the end everything gets boring, and even if you want to support KSH in getting SE2 to go ahead, there are other new features that do keep you entertained, not like a new KSH alpha to get to what SE1 already has and then keep waiting for real new features in SE2, because by the time that comes other games will have already advanced much more in new features than SE2.
This is not the same as SE1, which was unique when its alpha was published.
And the truth is that it pisses me off, but I'm not young anymore to wait 10 years for SE2 to surpass SE1... and almost 5 years either... Another thing would be if in 2030 they announced SE2 with all its new features, but to go through 5-10 years of agony again... oh well.
It's just my personal opinion.
Greetings
