Can we fly to the sun?
I think would be nice to be able to fly to the sun and build something around it to block out the sunlight it would be nice to have it.

Just to name two, off the top of my head... There are many others

Correct, just as it was in SE1.
TBH i can't think of a single game where the
sun was something you can actually travel to.
I mean why would you want to?

Star Citizen allows travel to the star. It ends in death but you can do it if you really want to for some reason. I can't think of any other game though that allows it.

So, the point of doing so is...
And
What does it add to the game?
Well, in "ELITE DANGEROUS" you actually kind of need to fly to stars to refuel... (if you have a fuel scoop). You skim hydrogen off the corona... It's a bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature. There are only certain stars that you can refuel from, however... not ALL stars have the right material.

But, how does that apply to SE2..
Short answer is.. It doesn't.

The long answer is that it, indeed, does. You were replying to ME not the OP, and furthermore, you were QUOTING ME. Thus, my response to what the point of flying to a star is, in E:D. It is literally a gameplay mechanic. Thank you for your interest and Elite Dangerous. I hope that has answered your question.

Thanks for the reply, I understand now, why you would need this in Elite &
Dangerous. However, You have not said how this applies, in any way,
to gameplay in SE2. Or why you would need to fly to the sun outside
of "because i want to". My point was, IN SE2, There is no practical
reason why you would NEED to.

That we know of..... Yet. It's not a complete game - it's barely in EA. lol... We don't know what the final game will look like. There may very well be a reason to go the star. Just saying.

Im ok still using drills and/or explosives to do me planet crakin.

The big question for me about the water is wil it respond to grav-generators......
I really want sick pools on my space stations.

That’s a really interesting idea! Flying to the sun and building something around it to block out the sunlight would definitely be an awesome challenge. Unfortunately, that's not something we can do in the game right now. But it’s great to hear your creative thinking! Thanks for sharing!

I'm not against the idea, just curious as to why anyone would want to go there.
Witness the man who raves at the wall
Making the shape of his question to Heaven
Whether the sun will fall in the evening
Will he remember the lesson of giving?

I miss my Jenquai ship...

I would highly doubt we could fly into the star but that wont even be until we atleast get planets assuming they dont abandon this game in early access like they did medieval engineers
Incorrect our Sun is called Sol. We occupy the Sol System. Sun is loosely for any star your planet orbits.

Well, a star is basically a giant furnace! It is an excellent source of: Light, Heat, and POWER!! Also, radiation, and fuel.... Whether is hydrogen, or another element, there is a high concentration of it within and around a star.

So, anyone wishing to capitalize on any of those things, would be wise to get it directly from the star. (You just need some pretty awesome shielding tech to protect from radiation, and heat, not to mention thrusters powerful enough to avoid getting caught in it's gravity well and getting sucked into the star lol)
