I have been playing the OG SE for years and years and years, I just from the screne shots it looks no different from this game? what are the differences? is it actually worth buying?

its not... it launched with creative mode... just like the og game.. .

that isn't different at all...

however.. .BIG NEWS!!!

we can now stack small blocks on BIG blocks WAHOOO... we now have EVEN FASTER jetpacks (which can match speed with ships) WAHOO!!!!!! so .. .seriously... nothing they couldn't have done with a dlc, or free update to the OG... waste of money... don't bother... they don't even care about the community enough to have creative mode as a demo ;)

**do i own the game??? no... and never will.... "prove your source then" ... PATCH NOTES!!!!**

No you cannot just put things in a game with an antiquated game engine. The game engine wouldn't allow it. Keen were pushing it to begin with. And no, you cannot just swap game engines. SE1 would have to be built from the ground up. Steam workshop would be rendered broken. If you can't see the issues with what I just brought up, you don't understand.
Edit: and how can you call it a waste of money when you haven't even bought it yet? You are contradicting yourself.

To OP:
This is my review of SE2.
"Absolutely love the new game engine. Once you play Space Engineers 2, you realize how much the old engine was holding it back. Soundtrack 10/10. I might actually leave it on for a change. This is by no means a finished game. It's hardly a game at all. Right now, SE2 is meant to be a builders paradise and nothing else. The way I am using it is a place to experiment my designs from the previous game in the new engine. DO NOT BUY if you haven't checked out the multitude of videos and live-streams on it. Also do not buy if you only played in Multiplayer in SE1. You will be disappointed and will leave comments saying so in the Discussions."

As far as actual differences from the first game go, probably the biggest is that it's on a new engine, VRAGE 3. In practice, collisions between objects are more stable, complex physics actions can use multiple cores and as a result run better, etc. Klang is dead.

Alongside that, there is the new unified grid system and better creative controls. The selection of blocks is more limited now than SE1 is, so if you're looking for a more complete experience, you're not gonna be happy with it rn. Once they re-add survival in hopefully not too long, it'd be worth revisiting and seeing if the content makes it worth picking up over the first game.

Stuff that is promised for the game includes proper volumetric water, a redesigned survival mode with (hopefully) better progression, and actual NPCs in the star system.

In essence, everything that is currently in SE2 is way better than it's SE1 equivalent, but SE1 has way more content. Hopefully as the game approaches feature parity with SE1, I can say the same about the other systems added.

Did you take you meds before going to forums?
NO, Wahoo!!! :steamhappy:

Did you understand whats Early Access before you purchased the game?
NO, Wahoo!!! :steamhappy:

Did you listen to Mr. Marek and Mr. Xocliw Not to buy the game if the features that you want are not yet implemented?
No, Wahoo!!! :steamhappy:
If you think SE2 looks at all like SE1 (graphically speaking) I would suggest seeing an optometrist.

Simply said. Because only creative mode is available, the differences are mostly in the 25cm unified grid system. With that you can build a lot of shapes that was not possible at all in SE1 or would have need a lot (and I mean a lot) of custom mod blocks.

Beside that it is gameplay wise a simple creative mode without function and physics (rotors/motors/pistons) blocks.

If you have fun designing ships, you can already have a lot of fun with SE2 thanks to the new possibilities you notice the longer you build with the new grid system.

But the biggest different between SE1 and SE2 will come later with the survival mode, where all hints leads to a other much deeper experience as it in SE1 was.

very interesting very interesting. So the water that will be in later isnt new, the unified grid system is ALOT more than just big block on small ones. Itll take alot of creative thought on how to best use the unified grid system in a very unique awesome way. But thats what SE is for creative thinking and building to our hearts desire. didn't know having better tools isnt different.
Oh and forgot about this small detail we have WAY better graphics who would care though right?
Who would care that this is a new engine that runs better. you sure don't. Who cars that they will be implenting news things later in SE2 that SE1 will never have. No one cares about new stuff it doesn't matter at all. ITS ALL JUST THE SAME GAME RIGHT?!?!??!?!

Actual brain dead take on your part homi.

Hi, SE2 will have all the most wanted they were not able to add in SE1, like : small blocks on large blocks, water and NPCs for example.

+
Keep in mind the first testing is Solo creative mode to test the new block system (small on large), also test the Voxel tools and report all problems asap so they can fix faster and add new shtuff to test.

Roadmap: The Vertical Slice Approach

Here's a glimpse of what's to come:

VS 1: Creative Mode (January 27, 2025)

VS 1.1: UGC Workshop - Share your creations with other players

VS 1.2: Improved mechanics and interface refinements

VS 1.5: Modding - VRAGE HUB, VRAGE Editor, and other tools

VS 2: Planets and Survival - Explore planets and our new Almagest System. Utilize new tools like backpack building and projection building, while experiencing improved progression and engaging challenges.

VS 3: Water - Planetary-scale volumetric water transforms gameplay. Engineer across oceans, rivers, and lakes. Construct boats and submarines for underwater exploration.

More to Come - We have exciting plans for additional Vertical Slices that will expand upon core mechanics, introduce new features, and ultimately build towards a complete Space Engineers 2 experience. On the horizon: Multiplayer, NPCs, Story Campaign, and more.

Hint about the making of the game :

Marek told the community to give them 3 years to make it for Xbox and that is a good hint about how much time they need to add all in.

Edit
Sorry corrections made.

The cool part in SE2 is that we can create new blocks.

The block does not exist in-game ! = Just create it :

Nice designs, brings me on some ideas I could use on my own builds. Actually working on two ships.
