paint gun is crap; improve it or just use what's in SE1
It's so funny to have painting as a "tool" in a toolbar but not a separate function, there are already several drawbacks with this "design":
1. I can't switch color easily, especially before placing blocks. I must switch to paint gun first, then open the menu, then click the color, but in SE1 it's either press P or just rotate with [ and ] and boom that's it. Why is it much more complicated, just for a cursor?
2. Why no symmetrical painting??
3. Why is painting size set to only single, 2m or 5m? 2m is already too big for detailing (eg. penetrating only one block deep), this should be customizeable.
My guess is that it's a design for console? to utilize rotation menu? or painting requires "ammo" in survival (wtf????) In my mind this painting tool is just a complete downgrade, plz just change it back to what we got in SE1, or address those problems soon enough.

*quick update:
I didn't mean I want paint gun gone for good, I appreciate the effort to make painting process interesting, but it's rather hard to use now. And in near future it's likely not a priority, I saw devs claim that they'll improve it, but it'll definitely take some time. So I wish at least the old SE1 method that I'm rather used to could be an option, assuming that it's not *that* hard to "copy" what already existed for a decade into a new engine. probably it is :( according to what we've got in the first alpha. If it IS a heavy burden I'd rather keen just focus on critical issues for now

You can still paint blocks the old way by looking at a block with a block selected on the toolbar and pressing middle mouse. You can't currently change the color without using the paint gun though, and that is something they plan to change. The paint gun UI and pretty much all the UI in the game is not finalized. It'll change and hopefully get better. (I think I recall that there was some question on whether the paint gun would even be available in VS1, but it made it in time.)

How long it'll be until that particular feature gets improvements, we don't know. Right now with the hotfixes it looks like they're working mostly on actual crashes, which would have priority over QoL changes. (Though I haven't had a lot of crashes, except by pressing ctrl+f2, which I would not recommend people do.)

I like the paint gun. I also wish I had the ability to quickly paint like I did in SE1. BOTH would be cool. Sometimes I just want to change the color quickly while placing blockS OR just quickly repaint one block and still build. In that case, I have so stop and change to the tool, find the colors, etc. Too many steps. Once again, I like the new paint tool as is. It is great for overaLL BIG PAINT JOBS AND DETAILING. nice. .. But also do not want to lose the other quick paint.
how can you access the paint gun i dont see it any where unless i missed that

Equip,it from the toolbar and press "R"
