So what exactly was fixed about Pip?
Just trying to get some clarification here on it. I remember back in the day on the original his grid could get messed up and not grow and then it might randomly fix itself at some point after a level up if you were lucky. Was that the fix?

I'm curious how the glitch was patched at all. I had a mod installed to fix the glitch, but the modded assets are still there, so the update didn't overwrite it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ChronoCross/comments/119kqjm/full_patch_notes_of_version_101_jpn_google/ has a Google Translation of the patch notes, because the official notes are only on the Japanese site right now.

It seems to mostly be about getting his stats and element grid to match his current form.

The original idea is that Normal Pip has very poor stat growth, but with each subsequent form, the way he grows is shifted and numerically better. The bug in the original was that it was possible for the new growth table to unload and be replaced with the Normal Pip default growth, or something like that.

Just imagine that you have a Charizard that grows the same way as the Charmander. It looks cooler, but is statistically still the weaker form.

The notes were a bit confusing, but I believe he should now get the increased grid and stat growth rates upon the next star level after evolving.

Any idea what the best Pip form is now? Also how high does he rate now next to other characters?

That really depends on what you want from them. Assuming this is the same as working Pip in the Original (that could be achieved through some memory trickery), Archdevil Pip is a physical powerhouse, Archangel Pip is a magical powerhouse, and Archetype Pip has the strongest Soothe of the Pip forms (putting out absurd stamina heals).

On top of all that, Pip's element is completely up to the player, so you can use it to fill an element colour and character style that you want on your team, instead of trying to find a character that fits.

I wouldn't say Pip is the best at any one role, but they can be the very best of a role in a specific element by far. The versatility is great, it's up to you to make of Pip what you will.
