Performance after patch?
So my experience with the Radical Dreamers edition was pretty terrible, I wanted to recommend my friends an out of the box Chrono Cross experience without having to mod it to work. Can the people who had low FPS tell me if its better now, or is hoisting the black flag like Fargo *still* the only way to play the game?

Just played with it a bit to see if it's better or not.

Battle FPS is much better. Other than one hiccup in the first Karsh fight where the game stuttered for a moment when the victory fanfare kicked in, it's been silky smooth in battle.

FIeld FPS is about the same as it was before, for better or for worse. Before I tried the unofficial fan patch I had bad FPS and lots of stuttering on release. It's still somewhat there, but does seem a little better than before maybe?

The field item menu that you bring up by pressing the square button (or its equivalent) is worse now somehow. It comes up slowly, and there's a lot of freezing/micro-stuttering when calling it up.

That's what I've been able to tell so far. Stopped after the Karsh fight when Kid first shows up. I think that the unofficial fan patch is still better.

battles are amazingly smooth but fields are still at 30 fps :/

Seems smoother and with less flickering, map is still 30 fps but before felt like 20 fps...

I still think it feels like 20 fps :D or maybe it just feels like that when you finish a 60 fps battle

I would say that the field exploration now feels equivalent to what it was on PSX, but the battle scenes are now much smoother and far more stable. Essentially, it now seems to be performing comparably or better than the original game did on its original hardware, and not worse. So, a marked improvement.

I think 30 fps is fine for a game like this. If this was an action game, 60 is what I'd be looking for but its not, I just don't want slow downs. Glad to hear so many of you think its better

I have a Radeon RX 5700 XT. The game now runs a solid 60hz while in battles. It previously fluctuated anywhere between 15 and 60 FPS depending how many UI elements were on the screen at one time.

The field and world maps also run at 60 almost all the time but still sometimes dips even when standing completely still.

A hell of a lot better than it was on release.

its....better but still needs work, field is still 30fps a bit more stable but still needs work. Combat looks like its much better but still a little buggy.

that's because the fix is they made battle animations 20% faster. not enough to look "off" but where they had it doing the same frame 3-4 times. they dropped one of the frame repeats. and y'all are just celebrating how it was fixed.. because it wasn't a problem to start with

i'm loving this..

From what I've played so far, seems to run much better now, had no issues with it yet.

how delightfully devilish
they fixed it by making it better, and these fools are just eating it up

it just proves what i was always saying.. they added frames to the animations so it would be both 60fps but not break the game physics.. they didn't like that.. so squeenix cut frames instead of.. you know.. giving them what they want.. and they arn't noticing

on my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop it became virtually unplayable during battles, but that was to be expected, thankfully i had the unpatched exe somewhere
