Time Shifter from the beginning?

Why would they give you the Time Shifter from the very beginning of the game? This was supposed to be an end game reward. Sure, you can say I'm nitpicking or whatever, but the items Serge has are supposed to be what he actually has on him, so it makes no sense for him to have this from the beginning.

Or do I have it because I played Radical Dreamers first and got to an ending? I also have to say I'm only talking about Serge's dream at the beginning, so I guess I don't know if you just have it through the whole game for no reason or not.

Chrono Cross is one of my favorite games ever, and I love that they rereleased it, and especially that they released Radical Dreamers finally, but I just wish they wouldn't mess with these classic games when they rerelease them.

I bought this game on Switch, by the way. Oh yeah, I also don't get why I can now name Serge "Crono" since it didn't let you before, but that really is just a nitpick.

It's weird how it doesn't even show the speed in the corner like it used to, and how instead of holding it down, you turn them on or off. I didn't test it much, but it seemed to not have the slowed down sound effects either, which was something I always thought was a great little touch.

Seriously, how the hell is it so hard to just release an old game again? The game was good before, so just release the damn thing again! Don't go messing with the formula! The Contra Collection, Castlevania Collection, and Mega Man Collections are how you do it. Playing those feels just like playing the old games, and you can even turn scan lines on to smooth out the old visuals just like they were intended. I love the Chrono series so much, and I bought this game because I really want to support it, and it was a dream come true to finally play Radical Dreamers for myself, but I don't see why they had to alter Chrono Cross at all.

I read the reviews and got the impression that while the visuals didn't look as good as on old CRT TVs, the game itself was intact, which would be totally fine with me, but I guess these things that annoy me are the sort of things only super fans like us would ever notice and get annoyed by.

I agree. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid, and it actively hurts the game. The Time Shifter was your REWARD for beating the game. Not only did they ♥♥♥♥ that up, they ALSO gave you STEAM Ultra Speed, which conflicts with the Time Shifter. I cannot tell you how much bs I went through while I tried to unbind both of them, because every time I unbound one of em, the other one would just reset itself.

Maybe next we can get a rerelease of Final Fantasy Tactics which gives you Cloud in your party from the beginning.

Of course in the game by the time you can actually get Cloud, he's pretty useless.

Not if you gear him up. He's hilariously effective, even at level 1. TBH, I don't even think levels mean anything in that game. When it comes to what REALLY matters, I honestly think it's 90% gear, 5% Jobs, and 5% levels.

Yeah, I started using him instead of one of those weaker guys and he was great. Eventually you just replace all your starting characters with the awesome ones.
