That said, the review bombing is ridiculous. I've already read a handful that doesn't even have anything to do with some users frame rate issues, but rather people expecting a +$60 remake of a game to have smooth +120fps game with 4k graphics... for $20.
1 - It should be review bombed so it gets looked at by the devs/publishers so they can "attempt" to fix it. (Regardless modders is going to fix the game up but we ourselves shouldn't rely on modders in the first place lmfao)
2 - Where do you get the idea that games shouldn't be left with a negative review on how it's running.
Most don't have the character to do that.
only bad reviews will force Square to fix the ..emulator, as the game cannot be fixed
Increase your standards and don't excuse crap like this.
Let an oldschool gamer that got this when it came out for PS1, break down the issues from what you stated.
1. Not Fair.... Square Enix does its best to not really patch and improve this style of port.
They horrifically tried to update the backgrounds using a quick AI system. Theres no rework of the background in here besides a washed away blurred backdrop in comparison to the original. As of now, there are MODDERS and ARTISTS not connected to S.E. that have already made near 4k clear versions for the backdrops. You say not fair? i say greedy and lazy.
2. Its a really good game.... No, its an amazing game with 12 different endings, 40+ characters to play as, and dozens of cross character combos and moves. exceptional music, and characters to last a lifetime.
3. Technical issues... when your framerate bounces from 28 to 60fps at random times, seeing a screen cut in half, having to put it at a specific setting just to play.. yeah, thats all phukked. when you set it to the oldchool graphics, and all the words are literally pixelized... Yes. again the Ph word.
4. The port.... THIS IS 2022... IF PEOPLE CAN MAKE GAMES SOLO, AND MAKE THEM LOOK ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FOR A FRACTION OF WHAT S.E. HAS... THEN THIS IS THE BIGGEST BLATANT PROOF OF THEM JUST CARING ABOUT A CASH COW FROM THE PAST!
Look.. you are probably way younger than me, so you never played the original as it was intended. So you cannot fathom how badly this hurt many deep loving fans to Chrono Cross.
That's only because Creative Business Unit III takes care of all things FFXIV related. Almost all ports, remasters and remakes are handled by Creative Business Unit IV which is filled with the old Mana team and basically all the new developers and unfortunately where a lot of the half-assed ones end up, too. Though if truth were told, I imagine the budget that CBIV gets is abysmal to work with, too, so not every thing is entirely their fault. They are basically the reject, leftover team.
