The Music Tracks Trailer on YT featured some completely rearranged songs.
And let me be honest, if this is the games OST and there's no way to switch to the original one, this is a hard pass.
What they did to Scars of Time could be considered a criminal offense...
Imho, these remixes are godawful.
I so hope there's an option to switch OST's or later on at least a mod.
EDIT: I think it's worth pointing out that there is a possibility that the above video is an advertisement for the new arrangement vinyl, but I can't find anything indicating if these tracks are also in the game itself.
My word. What did they do to Scars of Time? Do these guys know what dissonance is? There is a time and a place for it in music, but that is not one of them. Ear bleeding.
And I knew it was going to a mistake to involve the McGlynns in this. Irish folk music has no place in Chrono Cross. I don't understand how you can think of a tropical, otherworldly type of paradise and think, "Hm... makes me think of Ireland." Excuse me?
I sure hope the original OST is provided. It's not a deal breaker, but it sure is close to one.
I can tell I really fear now for the game.
Knowing I can toggle back and forth, I'll give the new OST a fair shot. I can't deny my nostalgic bias, but honestly the dissonance caused by the strange arrangements and tempo is just... off-putting.
Hopefully there are some new gems hidden in the rubble somewhere.
I still hope that the stuff teased on that YouTube video turns out to be a bonus remix album or something. But if it's actually in-game, i'm glad for a toggle.
It's literally an advertisement for a vinyl.
It doesn't specify any, say, special editions containing an extra OST or anything.
From the video description:
"Introducing the new and arranged songs from CHRONO CROSS: THE RADICAL DREAMERS EDITION!"
So, songs from the game, as in in-game songs?
It really isn't clear what this video is actually supposed to be promoting.
