Releasing the game later today, at around 15:30 UTC. If you know what that means in your local time that's great! If not, it might be a hint that you're not nerdy enough to appreciate this game, to be perfectly honest. For us here in Sweden that's 17:30, since with DST we're at UTC+2.

If we haven't been overly clear already, we'd like to stress that this game is not for fast-paced action oriented players. It's about logic. patience and an analytical mind and while you will get a couple of simple achievements early on to boost your self-confidence, it might be taken away again later on - either when you reach some of the harder challenge levels or as the game itself will tell you that your accomplishments are not that impressive. So yeah, you'll have use for some humour and a hint of self distance as well.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: This game is not for everyone.

Attention Codebreakers!

Approaching the launch date, we've had quite a bit of feedback from our beta testers. Somewhat hard to draw any conclusions though, since there are some contradictions in that feedback.

Some say it's too hard, others that it's too easy (to be fair, none of the latter ones have advanced to the harder levels though). Some say we need more tutorials and instructions, others find it an additional level of challenge figuring out how each type of game challenge should be worked through. Some think that we should be more specific about the language (British or American English) in the substitution challenges and others that our mixing BE/AE is part of the challenge.

While we're keen to adapt to the wishes of our players, we feel that the contradictions in our feedback prevents us from actually deciding on the best way to improve the game. So, we've decided instead to keep things as-is for now, awaiting feedback from players post-release. That means that some challenge types still need to be figured out by the players themselves, that the initial levels in each path are fairly (and perhaps too-) easy but that the harder levels will hopefully prove too much for anyone but the best Codebreaker. I talso means we will keep the mix of BE/AS as a "feature, not a bug".

To be clear, we're really hoping for such feedback, to help us guide our way. We're also hoping for suggestions from those of you Codebreakers out there who actually are as smart as you think (we sure aren't) on additional types of challenges you'd like to see in the game.

One suggestion that we've had from our beta testers is to add more languages for the "coded texts". No contradictions there. So are we going to do that?

Well, actually, we thought that we'd leave that to you, the Codebreakers. If your native language isn't available (which it won't be unless it's Swedish ocr British/American English), you could help us out by providing us with a few texts in your language and we will add it to the game. Naturally, the texts would need to be good (no errors in spelling or grammar), follow a few specifications (length and special characters allowed) and,of course, not be copyrighted by a third party. But, if you'd like, please drop us a line and we'll give you the specificaions for the texts we need in order to include your language.

Unfortunately we won't be able to add languages using completely different characters (such as characters not included in the extended 8-bit ASCII table). Sorry about that.
