Understanding Cove's Character Development
Hello! I recently bought the full game and am thoroughly enjoying every moment of it but I'd like to understand how Cove's character development (and clothing choices) work.

I am aware that the game allows you to design a Cove at the beginning of each step (a feature I appreciate), but as someone who likes to create a character and role-play, I'd like to understand how the players choices effect Cove. Is he designed to mimic mc, so if they're quiet he too grows up to be quiet? Or is it not dependent on the choices at all but instead mc's initial disposition of direct/relax/nervous and indifferent/fond/crush? In a similar way does any of this relate to his clothing choices or are they completely randomised?

Your choices do impact the warm-cold meter! Though, you can still customize it to whatever you want. Generally, Cove will "naturally" be colder if you coddle him, go along with all his whims, let him be by himself or just with you (not caring about the family/side characters), and stuff like that. A cold Cove isn't mean towards the MC unless you're indifferent to him. It means he's not as outgoing or social. If he has experiences growing up where he goes out of his comfort zone and has to accommodate other people, too, he becomes "warmer", which makes him more willing to keep being social. Though, Cove is always an introvert no matter what.

Hi! Good Question.

Cove's general demeanor is fully governed by the randomized (or personally picked) choices at the beginning of each chapter. His actions are chosen with your choices in mind (ie: he buys you a present based on things you've liked in past choices, he talks about you to others based on your past choices, and he protects you from things you've acted afraid of in past choices).

Yes, his warmness or coldness relies only on that randomized moment. ((Edit to Add: Plus what level of interest you choose toward him[Indifferent, Fond Crush, and Love will be matched by your love interest]))

Absolutely love a game where the characters pay attention to the MC and aren't just "cookie cutter" personalities. GB spoils us :exosmile:

Couldn’t agree more, the game is so well developed I also bought their earlier works to try them out. :)

Even better! I have rarely done the randomized Cove (please forgive my narrative control issues). It's exciting to know my decisions hold even more weight :zaggrin:

Thank you so much for your answer, I had a hunch there were some factors that effect the warm-cold meter and I'm really excited to know that's the case. I think it's really well implemented and thought out, I can't wait to explore the different routes and dialogue! :)
