I did meet Baxter in Derek's route with Derek in Soiree. And I ended up doing in Cove's but took Derek instead--so it was before i did the other stuff. but you're totally right. it plays better if you have more of a relationship with the family.
I ended up going to the Soiree alone with Baxter's route. and it played out nicely. My boy looking for a dance partner and... <3
So that if others wonder the same thing I did, they know there are options :)

I haven't done the Baxter DLC after going solo to the soiree, but if you go to the soiree with Derek, Baxter will remember and comment about Derek a few times when brought up in his DLC and Derek will comment about Baxter when speaking with him over the phone if you kept in touch with him.
