Even if the map becomes limited, coming up with designs and watching how they run can be fun.
It's definitely true not everybody cares about high scores and leaderboards - we want to make sure the folks who want something to just chill out and vibe to have options, too. :)
You still gotta win the game the same way and some limitation rules would be in order, maybe the game pauses until you placed all the buildings, maybe an ability to remove and reconstruct but you only got so much you can reconstruct before you run out.
Randomness and thinking outside the box is fun, but making a cute and functional city is also nice.
then there could be a sandbox mode where it's just "here's an infinite amount of everything and you have complete control over the map with no possible way to fail"
Well, I guess he kind of played his cards when he chose his user name. We got what it said on the tin lol.
Anyway, the game did just come out. Got some rough little edges here and there, but it's fun for what it is. Couldn't complain about the price for a new game at all.
But definitely can't wait for the creative/endless modes they clearly have in mind. I've been looking for a 'traffic simulator' style game for a long time. I've always been curious how big a roll lights, vs circles, vs un-controlled intersections play in my morning commute, depending on traffic flow. Can definitely see myself doing various 'stress tests' with a sandbox mode.
They can go in so many different directions. Adding trucks, Mini-Vans, stop signs vs lights, different driver 'personality types' (Slow Moe, Bob the Bully, Lurching Laura - the one with only 2 gas pedal positions, all the way down or all the way up, etc), different buildings that need different volumes / car types, night day modes, etc.
