Ideally, ARPGs should allow both controls if possible, and allow players to choose (like Victor Vran did, adding point & click due to player demand).
And yes this game uses the decoupled wasd movement with mouse aiming. Also you do not really click on an enemy to target in this game as all skills are manual aimed from your character out, so no auto attacks or homing attacks. Same goes for the enemies.
I also recognize the fact that the game was designed around wasd, and thus I agree with those who say it can't be click-to-move. That means I won't be a buyer, despite the fact I like pretty much everything else.
My biggest issues are (all due respect to the wasd lovers) ...
1) You have to hold two keys when moving at an angle. I've tried to get used to this in the few other arpgs that use wasd, and I can't.
2) Skills (other than LMB and RMB) are also keys, thus you have to move off the movement keys to use those other skills.
3) You can't (apparently) rebind the interaction key ("E"). I always change this to middle-mouse button. This is not a huge issue or even a game-breaker by itself. It's more of a pain in this game given you do a lot of gathering.
I wish the devs the best of luck with the game, as I see a commitment to make it a solid game. It's just not for me because of the control scheme.
Well, just in case they peruse the forum occasionally, this game would be an insta-buy if it had the typical click-to-move in almost every similar game.
If they don’t implement it, that’s fine. It’s their game after all.
