About Intercity Trains Control Unit
Hello. I realize from the game that currently, intercity trains only have a locomotive on one side instead of both. This would mean that when they reverse, the speed is limited to 30 km/h. Due to the fixed location of the depots, for a certain route that begins from a particular depot, the intercity trains could only travel with that speed. In this regard, is it possible that they be made similar to the design of commuter trains with a control unit on both sides? Thanks.

You can dispatch trains from a sink station or coach yard reversed by holding ctrl when clicking the button.

How do i see in which direction the Train is in the Coach yard?

The train will always leave with the locomotive at the front unless you hold control as you dispatch it from the yard, in which case it will always leave backwards.
I don't know if automated dispatching has been fixed yet, but it used to only dispatch trains facing forwards... I remember there were plans to make it so the automation remembered if it was dispatched backwards, though. I just don't know if that's been done yet or not.

it does not store the direction by default the trains will come out with the control unit first (unless the map maker has set a train differently)

Yknow, I should've checked the patch notes. It's working as of 1.0.5. Just tested it.

One thing that annoys me woth Intercity Trains on the Berlin Map:
Contract offer IC from Ruheleben to Berlin and then back to Gesundbrunnen. Forward the Train is fast, but when driving back from Berlin to Gesundbrunnen via Charlottenburg, the Train gets always delayed since it drives with 30km/h due to Locomotive is at the Back.

Any Hints or plans on solving this? Right now, accepting IC Trains looses me money instead of gaining, because of this issue

You could create a run around loop that turns the unit around (so maybe a tunnel between P1 and P6)

I'm not familiar with the Berlin map but that's what I've done on Prague to handle ICs that need to reverse at Wilson, they're actually routed to depart the platform forwards and make a short trip around a turning loop before running nonstop back through the station again.

True, could do that, but not sure If I find the space. Will Try that out, but I hope there will be a bettzer solution in the future

This is my single biggest problem with this game ATM. It's a game-breaker when you're running trials, and your revenue is cut 40% because the return trip is at 30km/hr.

I mean, why not just have an upgrade to have all trains with 2 control units.... i would get it immediately every time. Or add "extra control unit" as a step in setting up the route.

That's just a specific problem to solve for Inter cities and I think it's good they have only one control unit. It is creating more diversity in the traffic, right? Either you can make some kind of "a loop" or we need to wait for the shunting update :). It will introduce the loco switching which is actually missing in the current design, I know.

There are many Intercities nowadays, that have obbe locommotive on one side and on the other end a wagon with a control place - would be nice to see that one

Exactly. In the UK we don't have just one loco anymore [for a long time too]. I never had to do the runaround shunt when I was a train driver [lucky! lol] It's either with a DVT or a train with driving controls at either end [EMU's].

Edit: But as the dev said, it does add variety and I'd like to do the shunting too.

I actually wonder how you were able to do this because when I try to do that, it runs into one platform, does the loop and when it goes to the next platform (same station as departure station) then the departure sensor does not get a hold on my train. If this were the case, I am more than happy with the implementation but I couldn't get it to work :/

Hopefully, we will also allow you to fine-tune the contract generation in the editor so you will be able to create more variety in your custom endless maps yourself. Train composition in the generated contracts could be one of the things. That way, we would see even more replayability of the endless mode as the maps could be really different.
