it's my favorite roguelike, but it doesn't have the variety or story that, say, Hades, does. what i like about it is challenge, simplicity (with some variety) and excellent character control. i play it over and over like tetris
Main issue is that everything else is faster than you by a mile. And the player deals with alot of recovery frames.
It's like the game's trying to be a challenge by throwing you into situations that aren't really fair. Bosses are especially prone to this.
but for those wanting to complete the game then the MEMOIRS achievement will prove frustrating. it is frustrating because of the repetition.
the best example is clovis himself. it is NOT AN ACCIDENT to make a long dungeon crawl and beat the final boss for ZERO damage. making us do this 5 times is taking the piss!
i will check very carefully that lessons have been learned with the upcoming Ravenswatch because i don't think i want to commit to this kind of thing again.
