If you get a throwing weapon with health on kill gg you won.
The extra damage based on distance for daggers is good as well and you can just roll through serpent temple with it because the enemies can't deal with ranged attacks there.
Basically, they are the weakest weapons on average, but they are incredibly easy to use with some crazy modifiers for certain builds.
Note: I don't use throwing weapons much for these reasons, so I'm sure that I'm probably missing something about how to use them. But my early impressions of throwing weapons is that I don't love them because they seem weak and use more stamina.
The charged attack does actually auto aim the shots to the closest monsters within range, so if there's 4 monsters in one direction all 4 shots will home in that way; if there's not enough targets within range then the extra shots just go off in the normal way.
I actually really like the Chromatic Knives and the Silver Stars; the Evasive Knives are little gimmicky for my liking.
Just roll some poison, attribute scaling or health on kill on them and your good
